Great location for travelling to all places on Islay. Very good breakfast, good selection on evening menu too, staff very friendly and welcoming, hotel clean throughout, we would highly recommend for a visit.

1. Staff - Karl & Lorna are such excellent & helpful individual. We connected extremely well as Karl & I shared our appreciation of the great director Satyajit Ray and he has also been to my city. So we shared & exchanged a lot of views. Additionally, when my ferry got cancelled due to bad weather, Karl helped me change my reservation from Oban Youth Hostel to Port Charlotte Youth Hostel. In addition, he also helped me secure a bed at the Oban Youth Hostel next day through their own system whereas there was no availability for Oban Youth Hostel on booking.com. Lorna helped me secure reservation at the fantastic sea food kitchen restaurant next door. They are so helpful. Thank you so much!!!
2. Location - Simply excellent. Walking distance to Bruichladdich distillery, bus stop (just 5 min walk), eateries and convenience store.
3. Facilities - Huge Kitchen and Lounge area with super comfy furnitures & fixtures. Open a dram in their lounge on a stormy evening and enjoy a book. You will be lost in your own world.
4. Rooms - Super clean and super comfy with lockers underneath your bed. The bed has reading light, USB charging point, UK type electric plug points and a wash basin with mirror, a table and hooks for hanging your coats & clothes. Super arrangement.
5. Toilets & Bathrooms - Super clean and well fitted.

Our room was lovely. Comfortable bed, coffee machine and robes provided. Bathroom was great - huge shower and very powerful and a nice touch to include all the toiletries you might need. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and breakfast was absolutely fantastic!

The setting, the Staff and the room were very good. The ambience lacked any atmosphere and was not inviting to us. Something is needing done to attract local patronage. This would be helpful in establishing rapport between locals and visitors and demonstrate how friendly Islay people are.

Bridgend is a small village with a big heart.
Bridgend is a small village with a big heart. It benefits from a small convenience store and a two pump petrol/diesel station, as well as a putting and bowling green. Walks can be taken through the nearby woods and guests at Bridgend Hotel can benefit from a day fishing license. The restaurant at Bridgend Hotel is excellent, with a range of dishes made from many locally sourced ingredients. Both the breakfast and dinner are recommended. It's possible to walk towards the sea, though we could not find a way across to the beach - which is probably just as well as it protects the wildlife and potentially nesting birds. The local police officer stopped to say hello and offered us a lift back to the hotel - which was charming. Bridgend is well placed for further exploration of Islay, and would recommend traveling with an OS map to take full advantage of the tracks and pathways (if hiking).

Impulse 2 day visit to Islay to see family.
Impulse 2 day visit to Islay to see family. Bridgend is just one of many lovely little communities on the island. We were looking for peace and quiet, easy nature walks, birdlife etc. We did have lovely weather which helps, spring flowers all over the place, so many birds, even saw hares. The RSPB walking trails are well worth a visit. Food on the island was for the most part local and beautifully cooked, Loch Fyne Oysters are amazing and worth seeking out. Live music at Port Charlotte Hotel Wednesdays and Sunday evenings a total highlight but get there early, t'is standing room only but well well worth it. We had a car which made travelling around easy, and in spring there were not very many tourists or cars compared to other islands we have visited. All in all, if you are after a quiet, relaxed, peaceful and beautiful holiday and are ok with 'Variable' Scottish Weather, this is a bit of a gem.MaureenAustralia

Jenny welcomes us and showed us around, terrific; She made sure personally that the room was ok for us (we moved to a different room, without the view). Top class dinner: who needs a great deal of choice when there is what you want? Breakfast was just excellent. We came to Islay not for the hotel - but next year we may return, just for the hotel and stay somewhat longer.
