Originally we stayed at the hotel which was lovely but then we moved to the Lake House which was absolutely wonderful - we tried both restaurants - both amazing - as were the staff - to name a couple Dave who drove us to the restaurant from the Lake House and back again - nothing was too much trouble - Emma the lovely receptionist who is an absolute credit to the Gilpin and the barman at the Lake House - in fact, all staff were amazing and a complete credit to this wonderful family run hotel. We’ll definitely return

Great value for money for a one night stay. Convenient location for walking into Kendal town centre. Staff were helpful and friendly. Wonderful vegetarian breakfast. Nice to have a small bottle of water in room too. Also not very often you actually have conditioner in the bathroom so that was nice

The greeting I received was so warm and friendly. The location is great - and there's a lovely garden to get a different view of the estuary. My room was very comfortable. The dining room is spacious and pleasant as is the bar area. The food I had was tasty and beautifully prepared and served. There's an adjoining carpark
