Amazing grounds and lovely to see the sheep and other farm animals. Really quiet and a good antidote to city living. The walk into Charlbury is pleasant in the daylight and mostly off road, but the section on road is very scary at night as no lighting and very fast driving.
In picturesque Woodstock, just 20 minutes’ drive from Oxford centre, Macdonald Bear Hotel offers a restaurant. Set in a 13th-century inn, the rooms have period features.
A Grade II Listed building, The Bird in Hand offers modern rooms in a traditional setting. The rooms have plasma-screen TVs and there is free Wi-Fi in the all areas.

Myself and my wife travelled there for a family friends funeral. The wake was held at the Duke and we decided to book a room as it was perfect. Everything about the Duke was perfect. The room was spotless, the staff were extremely freindly and accomodating. We had to go early so dod not have time for breakfast so the manager offered us anything from the breakfast menu as a takeout as we had already paod for it.
What a perfect experience and we will be staying there again when we next travel to see our family.

Charlbury is a typical Cotswold village, but beware of the Bull Inn if you want to dine out, it is very precocious, expensive, hard to understand menu and the portions very small. In the interests of global sustainability there is not a printed dessert menu, instead the waitress will "verbalise" the menu for you, as I said, precocious. Two of our party required meat knives and they were brought to the table with a covering of rust on the blades, the waitress said it was a "patina" and the knives were intended to be like that!

There isn’t much traffic and so it’s a fairly peaceful town. We stayed here as it’s only 15 mins direct to Oxford by train. There aren’t many shops on the high street so you couldn’t shop here but it was perfect as a base to explore from.

Our room upon arrival was found to be infested with black ants many of them the short lived flying drones. They were coming into the room between the ground skirting boards and the wall.
Because they were over the bedding, furniture and walls we decided to leave immediately.
The owners were very apologetic and offered us a full refund there and then as we had paid in advance.

Nice quiet site, we visted Oxford City centre and Bicester shopping village whilst in the area, both about 30 minutes drive away from the farm. Woodstock, Chipping Norton close by. Charlbury town centre within walking distance, along a country road. Stratford Upon Avon is also about 30- 40 minutes drive and lots of walks avaailable too.

Beautiful village, typical of the Cotswolds with most of the buildings in Cotswold stone. Fabulous views across the rolling countryside and very central to lots of interesting places, like the Cotswolds Wildlife Park, National Trust properties and other Cotswold villages.
