I wanted a room overlooking car, with my cherished car that my husband gave me just before he passed away. This car is VERY special to me, so I keep an eye on it when 'away'. Food good too. Quiet. Lovely staff- very helpful.

Have stayed here a few times now, and will continue to do so when working around the area. I get a good night's sleep and it's reasonably priced. Oh and a good breakfast lol 😁

All the staff were super friendly and helpful. The room beautifully appointed. Lots of attention to detail regarding what was provided ie 6 different types of tea! Huge towels! Nothing too much trouble, ie they were fully booked in the restaurant but still managed to fit us in. The food was superb. Altogether we had a wonderful stay.

Colchester is a brilliant town to visit, you have the old and new part to walk round ranging from a good collection of shops and food outlets to browse and walking round the various churches, castle, monastery ruins and lovely parks.
The town is within walking distance of both train stations, taxis are plenty also. Take a good pair of comfy walking attire for feet as you will be walking up and down gradients!! A great place to visit on the local bus is Manningtree where there is a antiques emporium to walk round with a great cafe in the high street for food.
If visiting Colchester for the first time I recommend staying at least a minimum of 4 days as their is a lot to see of interest. Lots of charity shops too!!
For families do visit Colchester Zoo which is a great day out, this can be reached by bus also if you do not drive.

Colchester is a gem.
Colchester is a gem. Lovely architecture and sights, good cafes and pubs, shopping and eateries. It's not at all dog friendly, though, which is a big drawback if you ask me. Come on, Colchester, Britain loves its pets!

Colchester castle was a good part it was interesting to see Colchester's history. The castle Park is a great place to go and sit and relax take a picnic and have a stroll around. I only stayed for 2 nights but would of liked to stay longer to take a proper look around
The room was a good size, very clean and had most of the facilities you would need including an iron and ironing board in the room. It was also very secure as you could only enter the hotel with your room key. The location of the hotel is very good, especially if you are visiting the city centre or going to Colchester Castle. Breakfast, which was served in The George pub opposite, was very good with a choice of buffet style continental breakfast or a cooked full English (a vegetarian cooked breakfast was also available).
The room was nicely laid out and adequately furnished and the bed very comfortable. Being in an old hotel, in an old part of Colchester the floor retained the period property features!
The staff were great, welcoming and friendly taking the time to find out about us and our reason for staying.
The food however, passed our expectations and we can highly recommend The Green Room restaurant for the food and for the service, my steak was cooked to perfection and my wife enjoyed her fish too. The wine was excellent.
The room was giant and the general feel to the
Hotel was amazing! The location was perfect. The only thing I would say is to give more indication on where the George parking is, as the area seems to be a one way system which doesn’t lead you to the high street using google maps but other than that this is defo a spot to hit!!!! We loved it that much we booked a night to stay at the sister hotel for another night (the George hotel).
The hotel was ideally placed for us, being equidistant between the two family groups we were in Colchester to visit.
It was competitively priced, the room and bathroom were clean, the shower was decent and the beds were very comfortable for us. Also, the quality of the breakfast was quite good and at £10 per person, represented good value. And finally, all the members of staff we had contact with were very friendly and helpful.
Comprehensive instructions on location and approach to the hotel were much appreciated. We were shown to our room, which was beautifully appointed and the bed was very comfortable. there were plenty of complimentary drinks and toiletries. The towels were soft and large, the wet room shower was good and the courtyard quiet. Staff were very polite and friendly and we will definately be staying again.
Excellent value. Stayed one night in a standard double. Location spot on, short drive to Colchester and it's environs, plenty of parking at the hotel, pleasant ambience inside and out. Very helpful staff on reception and in the restaurant, where we had some very nice food from the starter menu when we arrived.
Lovely pub and hotel. We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed it. Our room was lovely and was perfect for us. The bed was one of the comfiest I’ve ever slept in!! Really friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely go back if we go to Colchester again!
The position is top. You are just on the main Street of Colchester, and if you cross the road there is a bus station bringing you everywhere you want. The room is isolated from any kind of noise and the temperature is good as well.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Check in was very straightforward. The decor was very tasteful. The best hotel breakfast I think I’ve ever had. Made to order and had gluten free options too. Even had air on in the rooms!
The staff were very helpful, friendly, and polite, the food was cooked to a high standard, my room was comfortable and clean, I would definitely recommend the hotel, and would most certainly stay there again if I am in Colchester
Stunning hotel with beautiful rooms and outstanding staff. Fantastic breakfast with perfect, friendly and attentive service. Great location, right next to Colchester Castle and Park and a nice outdoor space for warmer days.
The hotel is located right in the city centre. In the 3 days I spent there, I didn't have any issues with noise or anything else really. The room was very nice and comfortable, and the staff were great.
Room was clean and functional.
Bed was comfortable.
Ate in the restaurant first evening. Food was very good.
Becky was the staff member we dealt with. She was excellent and a real asset to the Hotel.
wonderful hotel. everyone was friendly and helpful. the room was lovely. the shower was excellent and a treat. we ate dinner in the bar, and it was quite good!
The hotel was in a great, central location being on the high street of Colchester. We were attending a concert nearby and it was literally a 5 minute drive.
