A nice little cottage physically attached to a working farmhouse. It has a well equipped kitchen, and is located perfectly if you want to see the aircraft that may go through the Mach Loop as it is located under a mile from Cad East/West. There is a hilly 4.5 mile foot/cycle path to Dolgellau where you can then take the flat 9 mile Mawddach Trail into Barmouth if you are fit enough! The hourly bus back to Dolgellau saved our old legs! Just bear in mind that young children will need to be supervised at the cottage as it is open to the farm and there is no secure or private garden area, this would be my only criticism if I had to make one. As for eateries, there is also a little used footpath (with a bit of challenging undergrowth) to the Cross Foxes Restaurant if you don’t want to drive (can’t comment on food as didn’t eat there) but we did eat at the Mawddach Wood Fired Pizza place 6.5 miles away that was superb (you need to book), also the Mermaid Fish Bar in Barmouth did the best fish and chips we’ve had in a long time. So if you want a place to stay in this lovely part of Wales this is ideal, and we will not hesitate to return. Note the default recommendations below do not include walking for some obscure reason, which I would have ticked. Not so weirdly the Mach Loop isn’t there either, so I’ll add it here. The photos are from the top of Cad East walked from the cottage (hidden below the hill)
