Featuring a garden and free WiFi, George III Hotel is located in Penmaenpool, near Dolgellau. The property features a terrace, as well as a bar. British cuisine is served at the restaurant.
The village is ‘off the beaten track’. It’s quiet with friendly locals in a good community cafe and pub The surrounding scenery is very green and rural with ancient pathways, woods and lovely views. There’s a good choice of walking routes. The car park is free and a good starting point for the walks. The village is a good base to explore nearby towns- Dolgellau and the coast and Machynlleth with its shops and art gallery.

The farm was easy to find.
The farm was easy to find. Parking was easy enough even though we had 2 cars between us. It's fairly remote and no shops nearby so take what you need with you. The nearest town Machynlleth is around 20 minutes away but has minimal shops. This is not a criticism. The nearby Red lion pub serves excellent food and drink. The staff are very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our evenings there. There are plenty of places to visit within an hours drive of the farm and the roads are good quality and safe.
The fixtures and fittings in the farm are first rate, no tired furniture there. I'm sure the Farmer told me that his son is a qualified carpenter and this shows.
Thanks for a very pleasant stay.

A very beautiful, tranquill place to stay.
A very beautiful, tranquill place to stay. The local people seem warm and very welcoming. The village is clean and tidy and has a few cafes and pubs which weren't too busy during our stay and easy to walk to.
We ate at the Red Lion, a very traditional, family run no nonsense pub, serving great home cooked food, at a very reasonable price.

A pleasant village serving an extensive area of hills and farmland. An ideal centre for hill walking and exploring the surrounding part of Wales. Lake Vynwy, Cader Idris and the Arans within easy reach.
A warm welcome from the owners! A beautiful hotel with lovely views. The room was decorated to a high standard and a great size. The added touches of the Dyson hairdryer and fan were a great bonus! (Smeg kettle as well!!)
The robes in the room were also a nice touch. We stayed in the Snowdon suite and would recommend! The bed was so comfy as were the pillows!
The evening meal was delicious as was the breakfast. Couldn't ask for more. Thank you Buckley Arms for a great stay...we will be back!
The house is placed in a village from the heart of the mountains. The rooms are interesting and they give you the feeling “like home”. The rooms are away so different and much interesting then the usually rooms from the hotels. The food it is amazing !!! The staff/ the family it is so engaged in making the guests to feel good. They even suggested to me and my group what to visit, they give us maps and clear directions, which they where better then what the internet offered us.
Working farm feeling , morning chickens and sheep sounds all around -live stock experience was much better than posh hotel.
Very cosy interaction with owners and based on size of the dinning table/ room realy limited number of guests staying at any given time was a real eye opener in regards to less is better. 🙂
Set of well kept, soft towels was provided which is always a bonus especially when home brought items are wet after wild swimming.
Robert and Lyn were amazing hosts, so friendly and welcoming, also knowledgeable about the local attractions. The room was comfortable with everything we needed and very clean. Beautiful location but close enough to the main road to make traveling around easy. Our son loved feeding the lambs and playing with the two little dogs - best hotel he's ever been in he said! Thank you Robert and Lyn for an amazing stay!
This is a lovely friendly family-run hotel in a Grade II listed Victorian building. Beautiful setting overlooking the River Dyfi. The restaurant/bar serves great Chinese meals. The traditional breakfast was excellent. The place has a lot of character, with an intriguing collection of antique musical instruments alongside other period artefacts and furniture. Highly recommended.
Large room and bathroom in excellent condition. Very helpful staff . Nice Chinese restaurant in evening and superb Welsh breakfast. Breakfast available very early which can be good for walkers. Room was well heated. This is not a faded glory type hotel and all was in good condition.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was fantastic and reasonably priced. On arrival I was told I could keep the motorbike at the side of the hotel which made my stay very relaxed.
