The Lantern, hotel in Donaghadee

Boasting garden views, The Lantern features accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 28 km from SSE Arena.

A beautiful room, with its own en-suite and kitchen. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We were made very welcome by the host, Sue, from the moment we arrived. There was a lovely selection of food left for breakfast. The room is nicely decorated, and the bed was so comfortable with ample pillows. The location is within walking distance to the town and local cafes and restaurants.

Shelleven Guest House, hotel in Donaghadee

Shelleven Guest House is a Victorian property with great charm and period features throughout, providing luxurious accommodation and dining in a warm relaxed atmosphere.

Room temperature was very uncomfortable and window opened onto a corridor. Therefore NO fresh air in the room to lower the temperature within the room. As a result a terrible night’s sleep before my swimming competition.

This is a lovely setting at the seaside with harbour and coastal walks. There are sufficient eating places and ice cream shops. A number of churches are welcoming to visitors too. There is a one-way system for traffic but easy to find. Groomsport is another coastal place nearby.

A lovely small harbour town with lots of pubs and eateries. We had a super meal, fresh prawns in Grace Neill,s the oldest pub in Ireland. It has a lovely walk along the Commons with keep fit machines along the route.

I was there to research my family history. Donaghadee is a tiny coastal village with an interesting history. The people were incredible and I was able to learn quite a bit. There is not a lot to do for the average tourist - at least not in March, but coming with a reason like mine worked out really well. I will go back again!!

Sue was a very pleasant talkative lady, the room and facilities were spotless. Fridge was stocked with milk etc. for breakfast. Washing machine, tumble dryer available if required. The property was close to sea front, restaurants and shops. I Highly recommend this property for a holiday. My husband and I would definitely stay at The Lantern again..
