Thompsons Arms, hotel in Flaxton

Just 20 minutes’ drive from York centre, Thompsons Arms offers rooms set within the pub. It has free parking, free WiFi and is 5 miles from Castle Howard.

Lovely quiet location. We had very limited time to spend here after attending a party, but we were soon in our room and settled. Although the pub downstairs was busy when we arrived we heard nothing from the room, so quiet!

Located 4.9 km from York Minster, 7hopgrove provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking.

Absolutely fantastic stay! Only a 15 minute drive or bus ride into town, bus stop was a few minutes walk from the house. It was clean, big room with loads of storage and the bathroom had all the essentials you could need (toothpaste, schampoo, conditioner, body wash). The owner was so friendly and was an absolute star and drove us to a bus stop because of heavy rain! Can't recomend this place enough.

Murton Grange offers cottages and a farmhouse set within the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, just 15 minutes’ drive from York.

Easy booking process. 15 minutes by taxi to York. Exclusive feeling site down a country road. 2 other hen dos across the site so we didn't feel conscious about making too much noise. Hot tubs were a lovely addition. Facilities are basic but we didn't want for any more. Perfect location for a hen do!

Flaxton is a small village - very pretty and well kept. Even though the Thompson Arms is just outside the village, it is obviously very popular with the locals, and has a lively and friendly clientele. We were made to feel most welcome.

I needed to be fairly close to Malton as I had business there, but needed a reasonably priced overnight stay as I had further work in Scarborough the following day. With more time the proximity to Castle Howard would have been a big plus.

It was very cosy, very clean and the couple who own it are lovely friendly people who couldn't do enough for you (within reason). I was there for a wedding at Sandburn Hall and the price to stay at the Hall was ridiculous compared to the Thompsons Arms which is a lovely place to stay. The owner of the Thompsons Arms also runs a taxi service to the Hall and back so I cannot think of one reason not to stay there.

Located in a lovely quiet rural village. Only 2 or 3 rooms I think (above the pub) and the 2 we had were perfect. substantial freshly cooked breakfast in the morning. The owner offers a taxi service to/from local wedding venues if required for a sensible price. Well worth knowing as taxis are hard to find in York. Would definitely stay again.

The cottage itself (number 1) was lovely for a short getaway. Comfy bed and sofa, kitchen well equipped. Adjoining the pub was good. Super friendly & accommodating hosts. Central location if you want to explore Yorkshire and the coast. I would stay again and one of few hosts that haven’t inflated their prices during the pandemic.

The shower head was too small and didn't provide great water supply. Also did not stay in the riser rail and kept slipping down resulting in having to hold it for a shower.Very annoying.Suggest it is replaced with a bigger head and fits properly.
