We stayed one night on the spur of the moment on our way back from Scotland. Lovely decor in the bar areas and comfortable good sized room (we.paid £10 extra for a larger room and think it was worth it as we had a table and seating area). The staff were great at check in and very helpful. We also ate in the restaurant - it wasn't the cheapest but the food and service was excellent. The breakfast was buffet style with an excellent variety and choice from full English, to fruit, yogurts, pastries etc. We stayed mid week and it was excellent value for money- will definitely stay again.

The hotel had an amazing view of the lake, a 5 minute drive from the nearest village which was full of places to see, restaurants and shops. the roads and the views were simply amazing. Breakfast was made to order fresh. The rooms clean, tidy and lots of facilities. Couldn't have asked for anything more would defiantly stay again. If anything i would have expected to pay more to stay somewhere as nice as this.

Dinner was amazing, the service excellent. Loved watching the squirrels in the morning while we are breakfast.

The hostess, Jean was great, loved the fireplace being relaid with fresh logs and firelighters and coal every day. Just had to light it. VERY comfy bunks. Decent shower, decent kitchen and toilet. PEACEFUL.

Mike was an excellent host, he gave us great recommendations for where to eat. The room was beautiful, clean and perfect for accessing grasmere village. We also ate at Mike's cafe Freda and Ray which has the best coffee in the village.

Very comfortable. Warm and plenty of hot water. Having two wood burners was fantastic! Clean and well equipped(especially the kitchen). Comfortable beds in both rooms. Nice welcome box.
