Dale was a fantastic host and couldn’t have done enough for us. He kindly informed us we’d been upgraded to a nicer room which had an amazing view of Thirlmere with a patio and asked us for any dietary requirements for breakfast. We told him we’re both vegan but didn’t expect much, they actually took the time to nip out and get some vegan sausages and oat milk. We had an oat meal porridge with toast for breakfast which was really nice however there were other options available. Breakfast doesn’t usually start til 08:15 which would have meant we wouldn’t have had time to eat on our last day due to an activity we had booked early morning. I spoke to Dale the evening before and he was able to see to us at 8 so we could make it. Great experience, we will definitely come back

The hostess, Jean was great, loved the fireplace being relaid with fresh logs and firelighters and coal every day. Just had to light it. VERY comfy bunks. Decent shower, decent kitchen and toilet. PEACEFUL.

Glenridding the gateway to Ullswater. I chose the Ullswater Inn for it's location as it's right in the heart of everything. Access to Lake Ullswater is a stones throw from the Inn. Plenty of walks and beautiful scenery, whatever the weather. The food at the Ullswater is prepared fresh to your order and is of a high standard, no need to go looking to eat elsewhere. I can fully recommend the porridge at breakfast. Chris and the team really make you feel welcome and do everything they can to make your stay a thing to remember.DavidUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Lovely quiet relaxing place if you want to get away from it...
Lovely quiet relaxing place if you want to get away from it all. It has shops cafe and you can go on the boat around the lake. Keswick was 30 minutes drive away. You do need a car to get around.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Very beautiful location with quaint cafés and plenty of hiking trails. The lake offers more experiences too. There is a lot of nature to explore. It is also quiet and peaceful. The locals and warm and hospitable while other hikers and outdoorsy people are friendly too. It is a tad difficult to drive around due to the road quality in some places. The ferry across the lake stopped services fairly early too (around 5pm). Food and drink is good. There are plenty of local beers to try and lots of vegan options too in multiple cafés.

An excellent hotel met all our expectations.
An excellent hotel met all our expectations. Location & surroundings are spectacular. We did the walk from Glenridding to Howtown it was very challenging to inexperienced walkers but the views were stunning. Lovely small village comprising mostly natural stone built...
Lovely small village comprising mostly natural stone built properties extending up the valley. One of the main access routes for those wishing to visit Helvelyn & nearby mountains. Also main access to the Steamboat ferry - so its quite a busy place. (Beware - the Steamboat may cancel at short notice - leaving you stranded miles from where you want to get to.!!). Several eating & drinking establishments available - all those visited were busy. Main road through the village is quite busy. Would recommend a visit.Edwards

The lift doesnt work so we had to hug bags upstairs the room was lovely and clean but the room was next to the road so sleep was very disturbed it is overpriced for what you get

This set the tone for the entire stay. The breakfast was fabulous, as was dinner. The friendliness and genuine tone of the staff was heartwarming. Everything was spot on, everyone was welcoming, the service was outstanding. I recommend the Inn on The Lake to everyone! It is a home from home and I'll be back!

Glenridding is in walking distance and there are several places to eat and drink and shops there. It is a good base for walking and the walks around Ullswater are lovely and not too strenuous.
