A thank you to the lady who checked me in and squeezed me in for an evening meal when they were fully booked. Be sure to book a table if you want to eat in the restaurant. The food was very good.

We used Gwennap as a base really. Area is very rural. We had very busy days so it was nice to return to the cottage and relax. We would've liked to have an evening meal at the local pub one night but felt, although it is an easy drive it was just a bit far to walk. It was so pleasant just to hear the sounds of the country. No traffic noise, just the odd distant rumble of a tractor. Nice area if you want to "get away from it all".

Gwenap is a tiny village, it has an old church and a small local shop but you really need a car in order to explore, it’s an ideal location for exploring Cornwall though. Gwenap is about four miles from Falmouth which is a quaint seaside town, there are some lovely beaches there. If you are interested in art then you will love it as there are quite a few art shops with some amazing artwork. Perranporth is about twenty minutes away and is to the north side of Gwenap, it has stunning scenery, costal walks and an amazing beach. Truro is about thirty minutes away, Newquay and Penzance aren’t that far away either. I was only there for three days, really not long enough. We found a lovely restaurant called The Golden Lion, off the beaten track down very narrow lanes and right next to a huge lake. The food was superb. If you don’t like driving you would be better off staying actually in one of the seaside towns.
