The bar food and the staff were very attentive. The Manageress Louisa at breakfast was excellent and as it was my husbands birthday she arranged a birthday plate with Happy Birthday and chocolates which was a lovely touch.

The owners (Geraldine and Mark) have worked really hard on landscaping and turning this once farm into a superb fishery. There are two main fishing lakes and each lake has two sets of accommodation so its very secluded and there are not loads of people staying at any one time, so it's very low key and relaxed. There is a natural swimming pond/pool which we didn't try but is very clear being spring fed and there are another five lakes/ponds on a large nature reserve area on the hill behind the main fishery which is pleasant to walk around. There are pubs and shops close by and there is an information guide in each hut with suggested walks, days out and take away menus. The accommodation was lovely, cosy and comfortable and there are lots of thoughtful touches including a welcome selection of Milk, Juice, Fresh eggs, bread rolls, butter and Croissants. We took everything bar the kitchen sink thinking we would need it and ended up leaving it all in the car as the hut had everything you could possibly want and if it wasn't there Geraldine and Mark were only too pleased and helpful to provide it. There is a separate block with facilities for washing and drying clothes with a larger shower and toilet area if needed. My partner loved the fishing and caught Linear, Crucian and Common Carp, Orfe, Tench, Roach, wee Gudgeon and even Goldfish! Mark is very knowledgeable and willing to help you make a catch so its a perfect spot for a novice as well as the more seasoned angler, although you don't have to fish to stay there. Geraldine and Mark are friendly, thoughtful and very kind and nothing is too much trouble for them. We will definitely be returning. *****
