The Lifeboat Inn, hotel in Holme next the Sea

The Lifeboat Inn is just a 2-minute walk away from marshes and sand dunes along the Norfolk Coast Path.

We had a double aspect room with a spectacular sea view. It was beautifully decorated in a New England style. The bathroom had coincidentally, one of my favourite range of toiletries, Jasmine, from the White Company Floral collection. The staff were all very welcoming and polite and the food was excellent. The cosy seating areas around the log fire were perfect for curling up with a book after a long days walk along the boardwalk. A perfectly relaxing break, we're definitely going back.

The cottage was in a quiet lane but we were able to get to the pub - excellent food- and the rest of the village. We went to Sandringham as well as exploring the villages along the coast as well as doing some bird watching. It was an excellent base for a lovely part of the world.

The property is described as beach front - it is not as it’s a good half hour walk to the beach The property states it has a terrace with sea view - it doesn’t, it has a small courtyard to the front with no view at all!! The cottage was adequate for our stay but I felt it was overpriced as we paid slightly more because it stated it was beach front. All in all it was comfortable and well equipped but we were slightly disappointed with the setting

A very distant sea, shallow with gentle breakers.

A very distant sea, shallow with gentle breakers. It's a delightful place if you like to walk on wide windy beaches and shelter in the dunes. It is spectacular being on the corner of the Wash and the North Sea. In the distance across the water you can see Lincolnshire and the wind turbines. The beach is covered with shells. People bathe here but you have to like bathing in shallow water rather than deep sea. I guess there may be some surfing sometimes. fantastic walks either to Old Hunstanton or to Thornham.
