The heating didn't work. The boiler didn't have the necessary pressure to start up. The owner just told me to start the heater. Despite trying to start it for 1 hour, it still didn't work.

by far the worst hotel I have ever had the displeasure of staying in , it was so cheap and dirty I can honestly say if if I were paid the £80 paid for the night plus £1000 on top I would never ever in my wildest dreams except please please please don’t stay here

Excellent hotel, staff were fantastic and would stay again. I have an electric car and the nearest location for recharging is 10/15 minutes away, though the hotel did advise that a charging point was planned. Definitely would recommend a stay here.

Kilsyth is a town full of history from the mines to the weaving. It should really have a museum in the main street. Colzium is a beautiful park with flowers and walks. We felt that the boat house management are really making an effort to improve the hotel. There is plenty of parking directly outside the hotel, a pleasant decking area too. The towels and bed linen were clean and good quality. there was plenty of tea/coffee etc in the rooms and nice toiletries. We found the hotel to be really nice, the staff were very friendly and helpful but the restaurant was a complete surprise. There was a huge choice of food on offer and the meals were excellent and generous. Breakfast was equally as good. They even stored our cycles overnight for us so if you're doing the John Muir Way, consider this as a good stopping point.
