Breakfast was lovely on the first morning and we have found that both times we have stayed on a Saturday night the service is slow on the Sunday morning, with nobody topping up key items on the hot buffet and the staff seem stressed. This was the same for dinner on Saturday night. Having said that the food is lovely and all the staff are very nice. The spa is amazing and the room was lovely.

Kirk Yetholm is a fabulous village at the bottom of a breathtaking hillside. It is at the end of the Pennine Way. It's a very peaceful village and looked beautiful in the evening sun.
I stayed at the Border Hotel, which was equally as fantastic

It was nice to spend time in a village again, and just do whatever we wanted without rushing anywhere. The driving was easy and the area was beautiful, we were particularly interested in the farming.
We ate in our hotel each evening.

The trip was arranged to meet our son, who lives in Derbyshire, during his walk along Cuthbert's way. We had never been in that part of Scotland previously and intend to return and spend more time in the area.
greeted by the friendly owners and got our choices and times of Breakfast sorted so we could make sure any covid distancing was happily agreed. the location is ideal in Kirk Yetholm. we were given a free upgrade as our booked room was requested by a guest staying over several nights and our riverside view room was perfect. Mill house is well appointed and spotless, perfect for walking the Pennine way and we intend to return when walking St Cuthbert's way later in year.
Beautiful room, new and spacious with lovely en-suite. Amazing views across fields. Relaxing and comfortable bed so great night's sleep.
Breakfast ingredients excellent quality. Delivered to our room (due to covid rules) but that was fine as we ate on our balcony and enjoyed watching rabbits and other wildlife.
Pub in village (Border Hotel) did great evening meals (recommend booking this in advance)
Relaxing stay at Mill House. We hope to return.
Its a very nice old hotel in a picturesque village. The room was large and cosy and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were friendly and very accomodating with any requests you have. The breakfast was excellent and lovely selection available. The hotel was able to store my rucksack and forward to my next location as I was participating in a 4 day hike across the Cheviot Hills, this was really helpful.
Fabulous - booked this hotel as the stopover as we were moving house, long distance. We chose the cottage as we had a dog who had already had a bit of a stressful day - the cottage was much bigger than anticipated and a lovely multi-level garden, all rooms had big beds. Next morning, the breakfast was lovely. Would definitely look to stay here again.
Good choices for breakfast, nice dining rooms, yummy Cullen Skink and cosy bar. Great location for us visiting Holy Island on the way to the Highlands and a pretty drive to get to the hotel. The room and bathroom were stylish, comfortable and clean. Friendly, helpful staff. Easy parking.
This isn’t a fancy hotel but huge comfortable room, great atmosphere in bar and very dog friendly (dog allowed in breakfast room and bar). We loved the laid back atmosphere and fantastic staff who were really accommodating. One of the most genuinely dog friendly places we’ve stayed.
Having been 3 years ago, I knew of the location, however was surprised that the hotel was all closed at 9 pm when we arrived back from having dinner with friends. Breakfast was all served to us but not quite as we asked, would have preferred a more buffet style to speed things up.
Location was excellent, Claire (proprietor) very friendly and helpful. Hearty breakfast with homemade preserves. Close to Border Hotel serving tasty meals at a fair price. Room and shower were spacious, and the bed linen/coverings top quality.
It was a struggle to find a room in holiday season. The owner was great about fitting us in. It is a genuine country hotel, in a charming village. Food was good, people were friendly and good value for money.
We received a very warm welcome, food and service was also very good. Our room and bathroom were spotless. But above all we were made to feel at home immediately by both the hotel team and locals.
