Visiting Aylesham/Barham so was ideally situated for us.
Two of us had to be up very early and they kindly organised a hamper for us, consisting of cereal, pastries, apples and a couple of bottles of juice.
The other two members of our party missed breakfast but were kindly provided with sausage/bacon rolls and tea.
We didn't eat or drink at the pub as was attending a family gathering but on check-in it seemed welcoming and friendly.

The room cosy, but stairs a little difficult.

This was a great little find, you couldn’t ask for a better location. The 2 bedroom apartment is split over 2 floors so it basically feels like you’re in a house. Lovely clean and modern bathroom. Welcome pack with milk, orange juice, tea etc on arrival which was a really nice touch. Great communication and instructions from host.

The location is very good, within easy walking distance of the attractions of old Canterbury. An excellent continental breakfast was provided. Our room was very quiet. The hotel was happy to store our cases for the ten days that we walked the pilgrim trail from Lewes.

We stayed just outside Littlebourne in the village or Ickham.
Ickham is a very quite village with not much through traffic and it's possible to walk down the middle of the road for quite a long while. Walking is the best way to get around the village because it would probably take you as long to get to your car and move it 200 yards to the other end than it would to walk there, plus you wouldn't see all the ancient buildings or stop to admire them.
It's full of old buildings, The Duke William was comparatively new, from the 17C I think, but others were much older.
The Duke William, where we stayed, was full of local customers at the bar when we stayed and they have a good supply of drinks available, alcoholic and non, as well as coffee and tea.
It's within easy reach of Canterbury but I'd recommend avoiding driving into the city but get a Park and Ride instead.

An historical town with several points of interest incluiding a 16th Century church; a tithe barn that is still in use; one store where the postmistress was also the cashier in the store; great footpaths around the village; a short car or bus ride to Canterbury; in short, we loved it!
