Good location and parking.
I think it the Tap Haus is best described as adequate.
I think it the Tap Haus is best described as adequate. The stairway to the rooms was in desperate need of redecorating and re-carpeting.
The room was comfortable - the bed very comfortable - but there was a large bit of paint and plaster missing from one of the walls, and the shower would not maintain its temperature. It was either very hot or cold. The switch for the heated towel rail was at ceiling height.
The bar and restaurant were fine, but it all lacked a bit of finesse. All the drinks and food had to be paid for in advance despite table service in both the bar and restaurant. The food was good - a very good sirloin steak - and the portions were very generous. A discount on the food because we were staying overnight was much appreciated.
I think I was probably expecting somewhere a bit smarter. It filled a need for an overnight stop between Leeds and Nottingham, but I wouldn't rush back.
