Maryculter House, hotel in Maryculter

With a picturesque setting on the banks of the River Dee, this charming Scottish mansion dates back to 1225 AD, and was once home to the Knights Templar.

The bedroom was comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom was exceptional; the underfloor heating very cosy and the whole room was spotlessly clean. We were really happy with the facilities. The staff were really helpful and friendly with all our questions, and at breakfast each morning we were served promptly and with friendliness. We also had a beautiful view of the river Dee from our window which we loved. We can’t fault the comfort and service at this hotel and feel it was well worth the money.

I booked last minute on the day, for one night after a change of plans. We spent another night nearby, and if I'd known how nice Maryculter was, I would definitely have stayed both nights. Fantastic hotel, really friendly staff, great location.

Some of the hotel was very smart and as per the photos on booking.com. Our room was very small in comparison to the photos on the website, and the decor was not of the same standard. I definitely wouldn't call it "delux". However it was pleasant and good value for the £80 we paid (incl breakfast). I'm not sure what the suites on the photos are specified as if our room was delux.

The property is soaked with character and Scottish charm. The hotel is modest but accommodates well. Excellent restaurant and bar, wonderful and helpful staff and a comfortable room with first class shower. The large hall with fireplace was a special place to relax and definitely made the stay memorable. Lovely toiletries to use and perfect tea and coffee selection in room.
