You really need a car to get around, but I'd definitely...
You really need a car to get around, but I'd definitely recommend the Staveley Arms in the next village from Mickley, North Stainley, for food. Ripon is a £15 taxi ride away and is well worth a visit and the fantastic Fountains Abbey is close by, too. We did not have time to explore the village and it’s surrounds, as we had other trips planned. It is a small rural residential area, with a lovely church. No pub or shop, but these can be found in adjacent villages. We travelled to the Blue Lion in East Witton, and the Staveley Arms in North Stainley and had excellent meals in both. We also visited Hackfall and the Himalayan Gardens, and found both of them to well worth a visit for their wonderful gardens / scenery and the opportunity for a 2-3 mile (easy / moderate) walk to enjoy the venues.MarkUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Mickley itself is small and quiet but delightful - very different from our home location - far away from the hubbub. It was a good spot for visiting the Yorkshire Dales or the N York Moors if you want to travel a little further.
