Village Pub with rooms, busy and lively on the Easter weekend. I arrived after the kitchen shut but they kindly fired up the stove again and supplied me with a tasty meal. Cheerful and friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble even after a busy day. Breakfast was good. Big carpark behind the pub, which is in a small village just off the A1.
Overlooking the Market Square in the small town of Masham, this charming inn is set within a fine Georgian building of tremendous character, built in the second half of the 18th century.

Friendly staff, good menu choices, excellent location.
With parts of the building dating back 700 years, this former coaching inn stands on the market square in the ancient city of Ripon, at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales.

Was very happy, with the service, food, range of drinks, room facilities better than I was expecting. Car parking behind the Sainsbury's ideal location.
An exclusive 42-bedroom luxury castle hotel. With 4 Red Stars and 3 Rosettes awarded by the AA for excellent facilities, this is the highest rated hotel in Yorkshire.

We loved walking the extensive grounds and appreciated the size of our room. Our bathroom alone was the size of some hotel rooms. The port tasting was fun. The highlight was the owl and hawk experience, which was beyond fabulous. The place has a great and very accommodating staff.

You really need a car to get around, but I'd definitely recommend the Staveley Arms in the next village from Mickley, North Stainley, for food. Ripon is a £15 taxi ride away and is well worth a visit and the fantastic Fountains Abbey is close by, too. If any runners are reading this, I'd highly recommend the Fountains Abbey parkrun at 9am every Saturday morning.

We did not have time to explore the village and it’s surrounds, as we had other trips planned.
It is a small rural residential area, with a lovely church. No pub or shop, but these can be found in adjacent villages. We travelled to the Blue Lion in East Witton, and the Staveley Arms in North Stainley and had excellent meals in both.
We also visited Hackfall and the Himalayan Gardens, and found both of them to well worth a visit for their wonderful gardens / scenery and the opportunity for a 2-3 mile (easy / moderate) walk to enjoy the venues.

Mickley itself is small and quiet but delightful - very different from our home location - far away from the hubbub. It was a good spot for visiting the Yorkshire Dales or the N York Moors if you want to travel a little further.
