I love the scenery, the wildlife, I'm a walker, so great walks, the town of oakham has everything u need, but what I like most is it's not commercialised, still a pretty little market town.i also used train & went to peterborough, the parking at the station was only £2.50 for the whole day. I had lunch one day at a lovely little cafe tucked in the corner of the market Square called Hungry Birds.

There are some pretty villages around in this area.
There are some pretty villages around in this area. Also, of course, Rutland Water is a great attraction, with walks, cycle rides and many water activities.
Oakham itself has the remains of a castle with a tearoom.

Trip on the Rutland Belle around the lake was relaxing

OTTER cafe in Oakham is a must, beautiful food, friendly staff and efficient service also a great place to buy gifts.
Sun Inn in Cottesmore provide a lovely Sunday lunch
The Courtyard Rooms are within golf complex. I was impressed with the accommodation. very clean and spacious. Bed comfortable. Good bathroom with excellent shower. Brakfast was above average and staff very good.
The location ideal for getting to know the area and only 5 miles from the attractive town of Oakham and easy driving distance to Melton Mowbray and Stamford. The little villages in Rutland are very attractive and well looked after. Plenty of pub/restaurants. Great area for a few days break.
Barnsdale Lodge was a great location as we were visiting Barnsdale Gardens for afternoon tea etc. Our plan the next day was to walk across the dam and more at Rutland Water. A visit into Oakham and Melton Mowbray. So a super location. Our room over looked the Courtyard and was clean and well stocked with tea/coffee/biscuits etc. Staff were helpful and friendly all around. Breakfast had a good choice and set you up for the day.
The room was massive & very comfortable & we were very happy there. The staff were very friendly & helpful & the chef spoke to us before & after our meal to get our individual tastes & make sure we were happy with our meals. The food was outstanding! The courtyard area was very pretty & it was really nice to sit out in the sun when we were there. We would stay here again.
quirky town centre hotel, excellent service and price, as said by others tired in communal areas and rooms with creaky floorboards, gurgling baths when using sink etc, but cleanliness in room excellent, bedding clean etc, breakfast great choice, fab coffee, evening food good too! added to the central location! everything was a short walkaway! great price, will return.
Lovely location on the green of a lovely village and within very easy driving distance of Oakham and Rutland Water. The decor had been lots of attention and the layout of the hotel managed to be rambling/eclectic and thoroughly usable at the same time. Super outdoor area and dining room to the rear.
The rooms are genuinely boutique and well-crafted.
The location of the hotel was just perfect in a beautiful setting right next to Rutland water which was accessable from the hotel gardens. The restaurant was pleasant and friendly staff, we had a delicious meal in the evening for our wedding anniversary.
The very kind chap from the restaurant next door. He was part of the hotel but it's an "unmanned" hotel, so I think he was covering for a manager (flood conditions in local area making travel difficult- that was my reason for having to book the hotel!)
The Admiral Hornblower on Oakham's main street offers a couple of rooms on the other side of the backyard. Nicely decorated rooms, great breakfast and one of the better options if you want to stay in Oakham centre. The breakfast options were great!
Great period property with lots of original features and a lovely lounge area. The courtyard was very pretty with gorgeous fragrant red roses.
Terry the night receptionist was absolutely excellent, what a credit to the hotel.
Well located near a park and grocery stores. 10 minute walk into the centre of Oakham. The two bedrooms with double beds were separated by the living floor so provided privacy (we didn't use the other two top floor bedrooms).
This is a delightful apartment to launch your Oakham visit. Everything is a quick walk out the door. The apartment was quiet at night and very comfortable. Having the extra space made our visit terriffic.
I have stayed here a few times now. This time to sail locally; fabulous food, smiling/welcoming staff. Room very comfortable. No hesitation in staying again when in the area.
Good location. Pleasantly decorated hotel, clean & tidy. No maintenance issues. Had everything we needed. Good value for money, nice breakfast, pleasant staff.
