The Old Down Inn, hotel in Paulton

Located in Radstock, in a historic building, 23 km from Bath Spa Train Station, The Old Down Inn is a bed and breakfast with a garden and bar.

The centuries old building, although that must make it difficult to meet modern living expectations. Maxine and other staff were lovely and informative. Very enjoyable evening meal and a monster breakfast in the morning! Lots of interesting artefacts and snippets of information. Despite being close to a road junction we were not disturbed during the night by noise.

The Fromeway, hotel in Paulton

Stayed April 6/7. Room was lovely, spotlessly clean, quiet despite being on the back of a pub. King size bed was very comfy, lovely linen. Tea and coffee in the room. The highlight was the breakfast, cooked by one of the sisters (apologies I can’t remember your name) and was outstanding.

Paulton is a beautiful English country village and a very attractive place to explore walking and driving in the surrounding countryside. The scenery is stunning, and the buses were very convenient for my trips to Bath and to Bristol. Great pubs nearby also. I had a delicious steak and ale pie for lunch at the Rising Sun pub. Everyone in the area was very friendly and welcoming.

The width of the roads leading to Paulton may feel challenging for drivers without previous experience in driving in UK country side. I found that the easiest for driving road is the one which passes through Hallatrow.
