    Beautiful sandy beach.

Beautiful sandy beach. Two pubs within a two minute walk in either direction of front door of where we stayed-both serving beautiful food. It is a very quiet village with basically one tiny gift shop and a "lite bite" style takeaway that only really does pastries and cakes. There is a chip shop on the holiday camp across from the local pub (about a 5 minute walk through the camp itself.) Don't let the term holiday camp put you off. You wouldn't even now it was there until you pass the gate on way to the beach. Parking at a premium and is £5 per 24 hours in pay and display but there are about 12 bays in the village square which are free to park-they usually empty of an evening once the day trippers go home. Beautiful and historical and just bursting with charm. If it is a quaint Cornish village retreat you want then this is the place for you. St Austell bus and train hub is a £10 taxi ride away if you do not want to drive and from there you can go anywhere you wish in Cornwall. Mevagissey is walkable on the coastal path but a word of warning here-you will need the fitness of an olympian. Not for the elderly, infirm or anyone pushing a pram or buggy. An hourly bus service is the better option!
