Gleddoch Golf & Spa Resort, hotel in Port Glasgow

Set within 360 acres of grounds and with panoramic views over the River Clyde,Gleddoch Golf & Spa Resort boasts an indoor heated swimming pool, and an on-site 18-hole championship golf course.

Despite the price the cocktails were lovely. Also the views all around the place were great despite being so close to home felt like a proper night away. The outdoor poor was great just extremely busy so didn’t get long there on arrival day but we got up early and enjoyed the spa much more the following morning and there wasn’t like 50 people trying to get into the tiny pool.

Port Glasgow is, of course not really worth visiting, but the the surrounding area is and the estate itself is fantastic. One feels like a queen walking those gardens and the surrounding park. Pet owners would have a wonderful time there. During the week and for some little hours there are groups of children on their school outing. I found that an additional delight.

Nice areas it shame it rained and windy day but if you got car you can go to indoors places or get bus and taxi there and I joy yourself like ice-skating, swimming, cinema, shopping mall, any events or castle etc.

Sadly this is a struggling place - and the loss of the local major employer (Ferguson Marine) in 2019 isn't going to help things. However it does have Newark Castle, riverside walks, a leisure centre, 'out of town' shopping etc as its own attractions. Above all this is a place that enables you to base yourself for access to other places - less than £7 day return by train to Glasgow Central, train or bus to Largs and other Clyde-side resorts and towns, the beautiful Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park etc.
