Mermaid Inn, hotel in Rye Harbour

With Norman cellars dating back to the 12th century and secret passageways in some of its rooms, this inn offers historic accommodation in Rye.

Staff on reception, restaurant and housekeeping very polite and friendly. It was challenging in the car park as space is limited however staff were able to assist by moving cars as appropriate. Breakfast was very good with plenty choice. Hotel takes the visitor back in time to another era with all the furnishings and fittings reflecting this.

The River Haven Hotel, hotel in Rye Harbour

Situated in the historic town of Rye, The River Haven Hotel is on the Strand Quay overlooking the River Tillingham. Rye Rail Station is a leisurely 10-minute walk away.

We stayed on the first floor room. The room was clean & tidy. The bathroom, although a tad small, was still roomy enough for us. The bed was OK, a little harder than most we have slept in, but still able to get a good night sleep. The breakfast was great! The kitchen staff do a great cooked breakfast.... Parking was easy and it is a short walk into the beautiful town of Rye. Certainly would have no hesitation recommending this Hotel to family or friends to stay here.

The George In Rye, hotel in Rye Harbour

This hideaway is located in the centre of Rye and offers well-designed rooms, local wines and a restaurant menu infused with Mediterranean zest.

We loved everything about our stay at The George. The Staff went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. Our room was just incredible - very comfy bed, lovely deep bath, blackout curtains etc. Very atmospheric. And our dinner and breakfast were delicious. But really it's the staff who make it so lovely - they were all, without exception, fantastic.

The sand between your toes. Sky and beach as far as your eyes can see. Wonderful food made with love. Deeply comfortable beds in beautifully thought out bedrooms. Daily yoga and wellness classes.

Great room, super friendly stuff, very nice food, the portion was larger than we thought. Nice lounging area, very good interior. Nice little touches too like boots and rain coats. One of the best stays we had.

The Lookout Rye is in the centre of the historical town of Rye, high on the East Cliff with views across the river. It has free Wi-Fi and paid parking.

Great location. Nice breakfast room. Nicely decorated and well-proportioned room. Paying but practical parking. Nice staff. Building, being an old school, has a lot of character.

I did not realise that Rye Harbour was a 2 mile walk from the town of Rye. Rye Harbour had limited facilities (one shop and two pubs) however the bus to Rye was fairly cheap and only took about 7 minutes to get to the centre of town. The area is beautiful for walks, exploring and getting outside in nature. The discovery centre and cafe on the walk through the nature reserve was really nice with great information about the area. The local churchyard has a magnificent memorial to the young men who lost their lives during a terrible ship wreck/sea rescue. If your looking for a peaceful break in beautiful surroundings then I would highly recommend for a few days. Families with young children might find the lack of facilities is an issue but Camber Sands is a short drive away if your looking for the traditional seaside experience.
