We went in February and a lot of the Island's attractions weren't open yet but we found everyone really friendly and it was quite nice to be given the time of day which we may not have got in peak season. Can't say anything about the beach or the front as it was raining too hard and consistently to explore but we went to the museum in Ryde and to Dimbola house, both of which were worthwhile and it was nice driving around on nearly empty roads.

Love it, been many many times, well over 20. shame to see so many places shutting down but that is sign of the times. Some wonderful shops. A beautiful beach. The best place we ate was in Shanklin though along the seafront. Had the boat wheel think it was called steamer or something it was awesome. Not happy you have to pay for parking at night-time now. Very friendly people everywhere you go. Isle of wight is Awesome. The ferry cost a fortune for such a short trip across, makes you want to travel in the middle of the night . We stayed at the Broadway Inn this time was very impressed. Really close to the beach. Love the tesco in Ryde. Found an amazing carvery on the journey there. Its a pub near the premier convenience store, the purple one. Forgotten its name. Anyway cant wait for next year.

Sandown has its own pier with traditional seaside activities...
Sandown has its own pier with traditional seaside activities and the beach. We particularly enjoyed Dinosaur Isle to see fossils and how life has been pre-human on the island. The National Poo Museum is small but good fun and interesting for all the ages.
Brading is a 5-10mins bus ride away to see the well preserved Roman Villa and there is a vinyard not far from their either :D Walking to Shanklin along the coast path is lovely for a really traditional British Seaside scene. We'd advise against walking on to Ventnor as the path is rugged and there is very little to see, with cliff path diversions it took us 4hrs and we defo bused it back.
We enjoyed food at The Reef, Flanigan's and Kate's Cafe.
We moved to Cowes for visiting Carisbrooke Castle and Osbourne House as they would each be about 1.5hrs from Sandown by bus, but if you had a car I'd stay based here.

Quiet town with good transport links to Ryde and Newport via bus or train. There is a caravan site near the Tesco supermarket. The beach is un spoilt. Parking is on the beach front at a good rate. Lots of benches to sit down and enjoy the cliffside views.

People were very friendly.
People were very friendly. I did not feel unsafe at any time. The newer hotels do quite well along the promenade. Any efforts to tear down the old hotels should be encouraged, those derelict hotels give Sandown an image of being an old undesired relic.

Sandown is a lovely place to stay. Beach was lovely.
Sandown is a lovely place to stay. Beach was lovely. Unfortunately the weather was not our friend for a while but that didn't bother us. The pier in Sandown has all you need on a rainy day. Lovely little shops with very friendly people and little homely cafe's. Lovely place. Easy to get around to other places, either driving by bus(regular services to other places of interest) or walking along coastal paths.
Breakfast was ok. It was cooked to order but kept under a hot plate until our dining time. We were served at our table, with one slice of toast was offered!
This is a good location for the beech but the hotel could benefit from a little modernisation. For example a plug socket to charge mobile phones. Less furniture in the bar area. Better background music. We felt like we had stepped back In time. But I want this to be taken as constructive feedback not criticism
It was exceptionally clean & we felt like we were at home.
It was only 8 to 10 mins walk from famous sandown pier
& only 5 to 10 drive from shanklin chine & old village. The
staff was also the owners of the Hotel both Husband &
wife were very welcoming & helpful. Breakfast was simply
amazing. I would like to mention specially the decor which
included paintings were worth looking at. I would love to
stay again and this hotel is highly recommended.
Very relaxing few days at Chalet Driftwood, the accommodation is immaculate and tastefully decorated. It is compact but very comfortable and the decking area was perfect to enjoy the sun - our dog loved it! Great location, 2 minutes walk to the beach which was stunning and a 20 minute walk to the lovely pub up the hill. Easy access to Sandown. The holiday park is very quiet which is just what we wanted and a great base to enjoy the Isle of Wight.
Kevin and Sarah were extremely welcoming, Kevin was very attentive & a lovely man! it was a beautiful hotel with gorgeous bar, sitting room & bedroom, single bed comfortable. a really good choice of drinks tea, coffee hot & chocolate & biscuits, lovely selection of towels & flannels, really gorgeous breakfast room & high ceilings. Very good choice of breakfast & drinks! 😋
We booked a room with a sea view and we weren't disappointed. The room was a good size, clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is located in an ideal place to get around Sandown and there is a large long stay carpark a couple of minutes walk away. We would book a room here again.
Very friendly management and staff who were prepared to go above and beyond for you.
The location to the pier and seafront in Sandown is great as these amenities are within a short walking distance of the hotel.
Free on site parking worth its weight in gold.
Well stocked hotel bar.
Breakfast was good and rooms are clean and tidy and the hotel location is near to Sandown town ,beach and the railway station.
The staff and management was good and the approaching way to the Guests is excellent.
Very good stay. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast, and the lady who runs the breakfast service does a phenomenal job.
Also, hotel is in front of Sandown beach. And it has off street parking.
Nearly brand new house, very clean, really nice to stay. Close to the beach -10min walk.kitvhrn with everything you need, even bottle of vine. If not very small beds it would be perfect
Good breakfast. The bathroom was very small with a very compact electric shower. Hotel situated in a good location in a quiet part of Sandown. Handy for the excellent bus network.
The position at the top of a hill gave a nice view of the sea. Good off road parking. The staff were very good. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so friendly .
The car park was easy to use being near to Sandown. The room was nice (Although I did ask for a walk-in shower but never got one nor any explanation why not
Apartment was lovely, exactly what we needed as a base to visit the IoW and friends on the island.. Rooms were clean and well furnished.Hot tub was lush !
Very closely located to the beach. The room has a good sense privacy. Appliances are very adequate. One of the best hotel of its price range I ve stayed.
Upgraded room overlooking the pier/beach front. Helpful staff - despite staff shortage at the time (as per most hotels in the UK). Breakfast plentiful.
