shoreside inn 4 stars

Hotel in Shanklin

Situated in Shanklin, a few steps from Shanklin Beach, shoreside inn features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The owners were really friendly and gave us a lot of tips on where to go and what to do. The breakfast was incredible – always freshly cooked, and they even pack you a little lunch bag (with croissants or other danish pastries). And the room was big and very clean, just the perfect place for a holiday.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished, the staff were wonderful and the attention to detail was second to none. We took our dog with us and there were treats in the room for him and towels at the door to dry him off after a trip to the beach. We had a lovely cooked breakfast every morning and even an Easter egg on Easter Sunday!

The Wellington Hotel 3 stars

Hotel in Ventnor

Set in Ventnor, The Wellington Hotel offers beachfront accommodation 100 metres from Ventnor and offers various facilities, such as a bar and a terrace. The Wellington is very unassuming from outside but inside it is really lovely. The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment and the dining room is beautifully done and looks fantastic - I'm sure the bedrooms will look as fantastic when completed, The staff were really lovely and we had such a warm welcome. We's asked for an early check in as were attending a wedding and this was no trouble at all. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and served by a lovely sever, again nothing was too much trouble. We especially liked the balconies looking out to sea - the perfect place for a much needed arrival cuppa!

The Stag

Hotel in Northwood

The Stag features a restaurant, bar, a shared lounge and garden in Northwood. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace. We had a very comfortable stay at The Stag. The room was small but had all the necessities and was exactly as you'd expect as part of Pub accommodation, it was pleasant, clean and comfortable. The staff were super friendly and the breakfast included was delicious - just what we needed to fuel our busy day ahead! We were able to park at The Stag and then catch the bus from across the road straight into Cowes for dinner, which was very handy and easy! I was nervous staying at a pub as I was worried we would be kept awake all night, but this wasn't the case at all as the Pub closed around 10pm (but we could easily access our room after this) and you couldn't hear the busy main road either as the windows were double-sealed.

One Holyrood 4 stars

Hotel in Newport

Situated in Newport, within 1.5 km of Carisbrooke Castle and 7 km of Osborne House, One Holyrood offers accommodation with a garden, free WiFi. The hotel was lovely ,staff very sociable without being in any way unprofessional, very polite and genuinely wanted us to feel very relaxed in their surroundings, the road at night , if staying at the front of the hotel can be noisy,if you have the window open, cant help the hot weather,or the traffic.this is not a smite on the hotel, they've created lovely walled gardens which you cannot find in Newport. you return from a day out and sit in the shaded gardens cooling off.so I feel we could both recommend 1 Holyrood to our friends if your looking for an oasis in Newport. Very relaxed sociable environment. Thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality..

FAQs about hotels on Isle of Wight

Wonders of Wordplay and Nature’s Way

With dramatic cliffs and unspoilt countryside, the Isle of Wight sits off England’s south coast. Ferries from Southampton cross The Solent to Cowes, a sleepy port which bursts into life during its annual regatta – Cowes Week.

Over the inlet is Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s summer home, while Henry VIII was behind the construction of the castle in Yarmouth. Neighbouring Freshwater is the closest town to the multi-coloured sands of Alum Bay. Next door are the Needles which you can’t thread, as the Wonders of the Isle of Wight saying goes. These eroded white cliff formations, one with a lighthouse, extend into the English Channel at the island’s south-western tip.

Near the southern tip is Chale, next to Blackgang Chine children’s amusement park, and close to Ventnor, on a hill sloping to the sea. Around the coast are the most popular beach resorts: Sandown with its nature reserve, and Shanklin with its cute Old Village and the most Isle of Wight hotels with indoor pools on Booking.com. Seaview also has a nature reserve, and nearby Ryde is a Victorian beach resort whose long pier is the docking point for ferries from Portsmouth.

Other hotels on the Isle of Wight are found in Wootton Bridge, with its steam railway, and the county town Newport, home to Carisbrooke Castle.
