Castletown Hotel, hotel in Scarfskerry

This small, family-run hotel has free Wi-Fi and free parking. It is in the centre of Castletown, close to Thurso and Wick and only minutes from the Castle of Mey.

Privat parking at the rear of the hotel but there is also a big public parking at the corner. Were nice personel at the front desk. Room was very confy, clean and calm. I was able to eat at the restaurant and ther is also a bar in the hotel. The hotel is used to people checking out early due to ferry departure. So the breakfast start early enough and the check out is easy. The hotel is just a few minutes from the ferry. There is a gas station and shop next corner.

The Mey Hotel, hotel in Scarfskerry

Formerly called The Castle Arms, The newly refurbished Mey Hotel is a 19th-century coaching inn and Visit Scotland award winning hotel just 8 miles from John O'Groats, in the village of Mey.

Euan and Emma were the perfect hosts and made our stay feel like a gathering with friends rather than at a hotel. The accommodation was comfortable, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The home cooked food by Euan was delicious. Thank you both!

Excellent location overlooking the Bay. Room (The Bay Suite) was beautifully appointed with a large comfortable bed, en-suite bathroom, area for drink making etc. The room also has the added luxury of a bath in the bedroom with views over the bay. Sheila was an excellent hostess and our breakfast served in the room was exceptional with lots of choice.

Burnside Cottage, hotel in Scarfskerry

Featuring a garden, Burnside Cottage is situated in Wick in the Highlands region, 19 km from Sinclair's Bay and 3.6 km from The Castle Gardens of Mey.

Our stay at Burnside Cottage was amazing. Kacey was the perfect host, welcoming us when we arrived. The bed was comfortable and the shower great. In fact, the room was very well designed. We had everything we needed, including some really lovely organic soap and lots of hooks in the bathroom. Especially important for us, there was a fridge in the room. A lot of thought has gone in to making sure guests are comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding, the best food we had been served so far in our trip. I would not hesitate to book again if we get the opportunity to return.

It was convenient for where we wanted to visit. Things listed as part of the rental eg barbecue, tumble drier, coffee machine had to be paid for, no sea view. Ran out of essentials like toilet roll, wash up liquid, kitchen roll. Over priced.

If you stay in a house on the front, you get a lovely view if the sea and across to Orkney on a clear day. From Skarfskerry you can get to John o groats and down the east coast or you can can go west to many places. It is also just down the road from the castle Mey,owned by the Queen Mother. Go to the restaurant at Scrabster, lovely meals there. Avoid the van at John o groats for food. The fish n chips we got was frozen and awful. Go to Broughs Bay on the way to Dunnet head and you will see lots if seals. Hopefully you will see puffins at Dunnet head too.

It was an ideal location to stop off after day one of NC500 going anti clockwise. Close to lovely beach and supermarket in Thurso. Also close to John O Groats. We drove from here to the Dunnet Head lighthouse which was also close.

I enjoyed all the wildlife I saw the puffins the dolphins, I went over to dunnet head and I went down into a bunker and I saw all the wildlife and birds at water levelI,it was lovely experience, i went across to the Orkney Islands that was beautiful, I looked across to see if I can see my bed and breakfast and I'm fairly sure I found it looking through binoculars. I would like to thank Rita for a lovely stay thank you!
