Myself and my wife travelled there for a family friends funeral. The wake was held at the Duke and we decided to book a room as it was perfect. Everything about the Duke was perfect. The room was spotless, the staff were extremely freindly and accomodating. We had to go early so dod not have time for breakfast so the manager offered us anything from the breakfast menu as a takeout as we had already paod for it.
What a perfect experience and we will be staying there again when we next travel to see our family.

Arrived slightly early (20 mins) but room still not ready, waited a further half hour and were told we would have upgrade to larger room however reception experience not great. Room was clean and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. Evening meal poor, menu incorrectly typed leading to confusion and food overcooked and tasteless. Breakfast buffet very tired looking, bacon inedible, mushrooms tough and fried egg solid as opposed to runny. We used this location as it is close to a railway station...
We used this location as it is close to a railway station into Oxford. Parking at the station appeared to be free as we could not find a pay machine. We also used the Oxford park and ride - it was excellent and very reasonably priced. I also played golf at Kirtlington (about 10 miles away). Great course and a very friendly club.

book evening meal before your stay. We were not able to because of staff shortages so therefore had to travel for evening meal. We would have had it at the hotel if possible as the standard of food for breakfast was great!

The hotel grounds, most facilities, and location were all good - the reason for selecting along with the price. Reservations made via Booking.com, with payment on arrival - for room and breakfast. However, it soon went wrong because breakfast seating (party of 6) was a problem - we were given excuses about too many guests and too few staff - even though they took our money as soon as we arrived. The first two days were embarrassing mainly because of staff attitude (not everyone, thankfully!).

The room was large and clean. The buffet breakfast was very enjoyable and just what you needed to start the day. All in all a very enjoyable stay. Oh, all the staff were friendly. During our stay a wedding was taking place and the restaurant was consequently fully booked. However, we were advised that the local pub in Steeple Aston was good value. The accommodation is accurately represented in the hotel description. The room, including the shower room, was exceptionally clean and the bed was really comfortable. Having returned to the hotel quite late into the evening, on one of the nights, it was beautifully peaceful outside with hardly any traffic noise, which was surprising being so close to a busy road in the daytime.
