The property is lovely in a quiet location but only 6 miles from Helmsley. The rooms are well appointed and spacious and the food we had on one evening was very good. Great base for exploring either the Dales or the East Yorks Coast.

Very nice place to stay with the kids. It was short weekend stay but we enjoyed it a lot, especially that was close ride to York which was our main destination. Very clean, comfortable beds. Enjoyed the outdoor hot tub.

Would highly recommend - very modern and airy - close to the Flamingo Land. Large spacious accommodation and if I am honest - best lodge we have ever stayed in.
Just 20 minutes’ drive from York centre, Thompsons Arms offers rooms set within the pub. It has free parking, free WiFi and is 5 miles from Castle Howard.

Lovely quiet location. We had very limited time to spend here after attending a party, but we were soon in our room and settled. Although the pub downstairs was busy when we arrived we heard nothing from the room, so quiet!

we visited Yorkshire Lavender, Castle Howard, Scampston Hall...
we visited Yorkshire Lavender, Castle Howard, Scampston Hall, Ryedale Folk Museum (and moors with tea stop Rossedale Abbey), Bangers and Cash Auction in Thornton Le Dale in area and World of Herriot on way home. Can recommend Thonpsons Fish and Chips A64, Crown and Cussion Welburn, Stapylton Arms Wass for meals
