The hotel is in a very good location, near the beach and the promenade, with a building rich in history. The architecture and history are beautiful. It used to be luxurious, and that's still noticeable. Our room was on the 5th floor. Comfortable bed, renovated bathroom, dry, and clean.
I especially want to mention the staff. My son got sick with a high fever, and we needed a late checkout at 5 p.m. They accommodated us without charging for an extra night and allowed us to stay for a very symbolic additional fee. We definitely want to come back.
Overlooking the beautiful South Bay, The Royal Hotel offers a traditional restaurant and leisure facilities. The hotel is set in a grand period building, just 500 metres from Scarborough Beach.

The room was so dated it was like time travel back to the 1970s! Initially quite amusing and was a bit of nostalgic!

We selected the cheapest room as it was an over night stay. The photos made it look bigger than it was . Would recommend paying the extra for one of their other rooms (which we have stayed in and are far better.)
The evening menu was more expensive than the normal pub food but was beautifully cooked and in lovely surroundings either taken in the restaurant or the pub

Both pubs do not open until 4pm at this time of year so had to go elsewhere to find somewhere for lunch. Found a lovely place at Potter Brompton called Sally Middlewood Farm Shop & Tea Room, very good and worth a visit.

Good location for exploring this area of Yorkshire, for Moors and coast. Professional and welcoming owners and staff. The room and public area were fitted out to a very good standard, and pub and food obviously popular with travellers and locals alike. I selected it as a one night stop on my way to a tour of Scotland, but I was happy to book it again on my return trip home 👍
This was a fantastic place, we stopped in a Junior suite and it was fantastic, we also had our dog with us. The place is very dog friendly and they are very dog friendly owners Karl and Julia. The owners and staff are very friendly and give great service. The food is exceptional and made with fresh local produce. This is a place that is WOW and you must at least go once and try this fantastic hotel
Lovely small hotel/restaurant in a small village just half an hour from the coast. The owners Julia and Karl, and their staff, were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Julia even made sure our dog Archie got a sausage for breakfast! The food in the restaurant was excellent and great value for money as well.
The hotel meals where excellent and the staff where amazing Especially Karl he went above and beyond when I took not well organised a taxi for me to get to hospital and when me and my wife came back he offered us a free meal at 8.30pm can not thank him enough
in a quiet, rural, and yet lively two-hotel small hamlet: with a generous warm-hearted staff; we were made to feel at home straight away. easy access to Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington and York. Would return at the drop of a hat.
