The Anchor Inn, hotel in Whittonstall

Set in an 18th-century coaching inn, The Anchor Inn offers free Wi-Fi, home-cooked food and luxury rooms with scenic views.

The room was nicely furnished & a good size with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The food was very good & considering the slightly remote location, the restaurant was extremely busy, which speaks highly of the food. They serve the largest selection of pies that I’ve ever seen.

Mole Cottage, hotel in Whittonstall

Featuring quiet street views, Mole Cottage provides accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 19 km from MetroCentre. It is located 21 km from Utilita Arena and features bicycle parking.

The cosiness, the traditional latch doors, comfy sofas and beds, the peace and quiet despite being close to a road (the front garden shelters the cottage) and the log burner. And the owners, who were so helpful prior to our trip.

We liked the exceptionally friendly welcome and our spacious bedroom. We appreciated the non-slip surface in the shower. We enjoyed our dinner - imaginative, well cooked and nicely presented. The provisions for our DIY continental breakfast were generous and varied. We admired the efficient and friendly service at dinner.

Whittonstall is a quiet village in beautiful countryside and the Anchor Inn was an ideal location for a Family Wedding we attended at Healey Barn about 6 miles away. We used a private local Taxi Firm - Dionne - who was a lovely lady and very prompt for taking us to the Wedding venue and collecting us after midnight. The area is ideal for visiting historic sites such as Hadrian's Wall, Houseteads and ideal for walkers. The Anchor Inn is a lovely traditional Pub with fabulous views.

Hotel in a beautiful setting, staff are good and the restaurant very good.I would defiantly recommend for a few days. The road outside can get very busy and noisy at the peek hours, and a comfortable lounge would be nice.

Whittonstall is a sleepy village on the top of a hill with fantastic views over the counrtryside. We only ate at the Anchor Inn partly because it was where we where staying but mainly because the food was so good and there was so much choice.

The location was perfect for our trip - it was a stopping off point between one stay with friends and another with family. If bookers are looking for other local amenities though ( local shops etc) this is not the stop for you. The food and hospitality at the Anchor are both top rate

For a pub it was very quiet but not much to do in Whittingstell. There were no other venues within walking distance of the Anchor Inn. However if you are looking for a quiet chill out this could be the ideal place as everything is of good quality and should have everything that you require.

The food was great both at breakfast and evening.

The food was great both at breakfast and evening. The room was a good size and very comfortable. The bathroom had a walk in shower which was helpful since my fellow traveller is disabled. The location is rural with lovely views and convenient to access Northumberland and County Durham. The owners and staff were all very friendly and accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Lovely atmosphere.
