All areas gave the impression you were in a hotel of a higher standard than their room rate. Amy the receptionist gave the service you expect but very seldom get, she was first class.

We have stayed several times and have always been well looked after, It is an old building and the rooms vary in size but beds and linen are always spotless and high quality. A variety of much-appreciated in-room drinks are available, including fresh milk.

We were very happy with the facilities and the room was large and well laid out, with comfortable beds and everything else you would expect, such a coffee and tea whilst our room was not ensuite, we had a private bathroom just down the hallway. At the time food was not available, but we were advised what was available locally. The staff were friendly and helpful and the pub itself was very welcoming.

It is a good half way point for meeting people from the South and South East etc. There are attractions nearby and it is excellent for walking. There is a local shop but we didn't need it as we took food with us. There is a friendly pub called The Star. Mare Common could have been better signposted from the roads but we found it. Lovely area and change from our coastal home.
