The room was great, spacious and clean. There was a wedding on but our room was quiet which was fab. Amazing food in restaurant. Loved the leisure facilities.

The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was ok. The wifi in the room was rubbish. The chair in the room was very uncomfortable so had to sit on bed for the evening. The staff were exceptionally friendly. The bar meal I had was good and the beer garden is lovely.

Angie is an amazing host who goes above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as can be. She started as a stranger to me but I will now forever consider her a friend. I will definitely choose Rose garden retreat if I ever need to stay in Rayleigh again.

My wife and I stayed at this family-run hotel for two nights (Friday and Saturday nights). We enjoyed a very generous and tasty breakfast. All the staff we met, on Reception and in the Restaurant, were very friendly. Despite the fact that the hotel is located in the centre of the town and that music is played in the ground floor bar till midnight on Friday and Saturday nights our room was very quiet. The free Wi-Fi worked very well.
South Woodham Ferrers is very well placed to explore the countryside, the City of Southend-on-Sea and towns and villages nearby.

I visited as I was visiting family - Woodham Ferrers has lots of facilities - such as park (for walking the dog) -Manor farm for children's activities (brilliant - mainly all outside); leisure centre with swimming pool (not particularly big) and a very compact but with variety shopping centre.
This is a family area and does not support luxury/designer shops
Woodham Ferrers has good access to major road links and a train station to London.
The Indian restaurant in South Woodham Ferrers was excellent and very good value for money

I visited on a whim, just to get out of London.
I visited on a whim, just to get out of London. Compared to other places I've visited in the country this year, this has to be the best in lacking any soul and social interaction. As I was walking and no signs were present on the main roads, why do you need to follow the bike routes to get to the railway station? Why didn't anyone know where the station was? Also, there are some old radar stations on the hill. Yet again no signs as to how to get there and once there, no history about the place. This also was the case along the river. No signs. If there's anyone who comes out with flying colour during the trip, the prize goes to the the bus drivers of Essex. These were the only people who could put a sentence together.

I only used the hotel as a stop off point for a trip to Colchester but I thought Woodham Ferrers was a nice little town. The hotel was in a very central convenient location. It had all I wanted. I ate in the green king pub next to Asda. Was lovely, noisy but it was Saturday night so that’s standard.

The location of the hotel was perfect, we had all the essential shops on our door step, we came down to stay because we were going to a christening in a neighbouring village, the price was good as we did enquire at another hotel but there wasn't a breakfast, everything was perfect very nicely surprised as you can imagine with some hotels, your hotel was very clean, looks very well looked after, pleasant staff, we will be booking with you again when we visit our friends, plus we will definitely recommend you.
I booked this hotel by mistake, I phoned instantly to ask for a refund and got told I had to speak to the manager who wouldn’t be back for 4 days I phoned again to be told I needed to contact booking. Com. I got in touch with booking. Com to be told it’s down to the hotel. I phoned again and then got told it was too late for a refund as it was over a week. 80 pound nicked! And I’ve never heard from them since even though I’ve phoned numerous times and email! Disgusting customer service
1st day full english was 2 bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg, good amount of beans and mushrooms
2nd day full english was 1 less bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg, but less beans and mushrooms (but enough to satisfy)
3rd day full english was 1 bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg and about 1 tablespoon of beans and mushrooms
Breakfast was cooked well but inconsistent amounts
Great location for what I was staying in the area for, the hotel suited my needs. Worth the price, room was clean, shower was good.
Adequate facilities. No food served on premises the evening of my arrival but The Oaklands was happy for food to be brought in and would even supply plate and cutlery if requested. I enjoyed a good Chinese takeaway purchsed 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
Was able to park at the back of the hotel off road.
Plenty of tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
Have seen some unfair snide reviews of the Oakland. Yes, it's not the Ritz but you're not paying for the Ritz. For the money this hotel was spot on, 5⭐. We had a large clean en-suite room with friendly staff AND a cooked breakfast, cereal, tea and coffee etc. I won't hesitate going back. Cheers guys 👍
The bedroom was spotless as were the surrounds . Although there was loud music until late we were not disturbed.
The breakfast was good and served quickly . A superb value for money . We would definitely stay again and recommend the hotel as being excellent value for money.
Great place, at first it doesn't look much but it's a lovely stay. Free parking nearby. Plenty of dining options within yards. The bar is really friendly and has Sports TV on a number of screens.
Lovely well cooked breakfast,
Enjoyed my stay 👍
Greater overnight stay . Hotel clean and breakfast good
Was noisy late night music but did stop at midnight which is when we went to bed so didnt really bother us . We were at back of hotel . Room was good sized and comfortable .
The location is good. Many restaurants nearby as well as an ASDA, The shopping center is quite attractive. The hotel offers a good breakfast and the bar is pleasant. Modern TV in the room
