Enjoy sunrise walks just behind the property, opening up to a breathtaking mountain range where sheep and horses are often seen grazing alongside local shepherds.
The food at Zostel Pahalgam is spectacular and reasonably priced, with surprisingly generous portions. While there may not be much to do in the immediate vicinity, the owners have created large, cozy reading and workspace areas where you can enjoy the stunning views and peaceful atmosphere.
Evenings and nights are kept warm in the rooms, despite occasional power cuts, which are to be expected in the Kashmir region. The rooms themselves are spacious, clean, and match the pictures provided.
In the rare event of an issue, such as with our toilet, the owners were very apologetic and quick to resolve the problem. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and highly recommend Zostel Pahalgam to those looking to connect with others over game nights, enjoy delicious food, and soak in the serenity of the outdoors.

Aru is village of 75 permanant families. They are living off farming and mostly tourism. During the daytime 100s of mostly Indian tourists come to the village a park on one end. But if you walk off in any direction of the valleys you enter stunningly beautiful and lonely nature - Cristal clear streams, meadows full of flowers, forests and snow caped mountains wait for you!
Aru has quite a few shops and restaurants - Indian, Kashmiri and one cute cafe that serves some delicious and inexpensive Western food as well.
