I loved this apartment. So classical Italian. Very clean and comfortable. Right in centre of Dongo.. next to bus and ferry. Good position on the lake for travel. Hotel Meridiana, hotel in Dongo

The Meridiana is a small family-run hotel offering direct access to Lake Como from its garden, and 2 terraces. Rooms are compact and cosy.

First and foremost the check-in went well and Domenic was very helpful. We asked questions and these were always answered. Our room had a balcony with tables and chairs. It was practically on the lake and was stunningly beautiful. Angelo who also manned the reception area in the mornings was incredibly obliging and when asked would go out of his way and beyond to make sure that when we went anywhere he would help look up confusing ferry etc. timetables and would also phone various places to make sure they were open and still had spaces etc. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Samuele who also worked at the bar and restaurant a few days was also very helpful in many ways and when asked advised us of what weather was doing when travelling by Bernina Express to Switzerland with a local app he has. I don't know the names of other staff members who also were eager to please. Apart from our room being on the lake (so to speak )so the view was magnificent, the room was furnished with lots of drawers, hanging space and shelves. It also had a small fridge and a functioning kettle and complimentary tea sachets. Everything was just right. The bathroom had a shower over the bath and the water was always hot inasmuch as the right temperature hot. Complimentary soap, shower gel, shampoo, shower caps etc were provided. The room was cleaned well everyday. There are honestly no negative points I can think of. The breakfast was also more than adequate and it is taken in the panoramic all-glass extension which overlooks the lake. In the evenings this serves as the restaurant which is also open to the public called La Dolce Vita and the food and service we found excellent. No restaurant in Bellano has this view that we saw anyway. But we did eat at other restaurants there. The hotel is only a max 15 min walk with luggage but about 10 mins without from the station of Bellano where we arrived from Milan. Many trains from different parts of area stop...

Featuring a restaurant, bar and terrace, Albergo De Jean is located in Garzeno, a 15-minute drive from Lake Como. Offering free Wi-Fi in public areas, the property is 54 km from Como.

The staff is kind, the breakfast is really good. There is a fireplace in the breakfast area, this place is really nice. It was a bit cold night, and there was an electric heater in the room - just in case someone would need it. :) The view is absolutely amazing! We will go back!

Locanda Capolago, hotel in Dongo

Set in Colico, 700 metres from Colico Beach, Locanda Capolago offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful and full of character and we had such a lovely time. The room we stayed in was gorgeous, stylish and light with a view over the garden. The staff were so helpful, kind and accommodating to our needs. The food is incredible, both the evening meal and breakfast, which is a cold buffet with hot food cooked to order included in the price. We were given such a warm welcome and a packet of biscuits as a souvenir! Colico itself is such a little known and beautiful place with walks nearby and views of both the lake and snow capped mountains. Thank you so much. We would love to come again!

The owners are delightful, lovely people. Their hospitality is wonderful. The property is charming but a bit more run down than the photos show. The finish work is rough, the street is noisy and the smaller room needed a bit more storage space bedside and in bathroom shelves. However, if you are used to no air conditioning and no screens on windows along with barking dogs and jackhammering in the street, the charm is real. I have real mixed feelings because these people are wonderful and their breakfasts are great. But don't go expecting fine furnishings. This is roughly finished with a lot that could be improved, but a lot of good too. We rented bikes and rode around the lake and drove around too. Love this area.

We were there in the off season (October), and it was very sleepy. We had trouble finding places to eat, and had to visit the same mediocre restaurant twice--and we were only there for 4 days. The one tiny grocery store was also closed the first few times we tried to go there. Would not recommend staying in Dongo. Maybe there are more options during high season.

Dongo is not the most picturesque town on the lake - but it is cheap and easy to get to the rest of the lake and beyond. Good roads, good public transport including ferry). Kayak, boat and paddleboard hire and all much cheaper than in other places on the lake. We love that it is so less commercial here and more Italian than it is further south, yet it is still as beautiful. It's great for bird watching.
