The hotel is quite nice, it has a small lift and every floor has two terraces where you can hang your clothes to dry and in some, also chill in the garden seats. Room is clean, good enough size and comfortable bathroom. Location is a bit far from the beaches, but still walkable distance from the port and center.

The Excelsior is located in the city centre of La Maddalena Island, a 2-minute walk from the ferries to/from Palau. There is free public parking in front of the hotel.

The location of the hotel is perfect if you consider that it is close to the restaurants, shopping streets and the Ferry to return to Palau. The room was very clean, with a nice design and with nice view on the sea. However, we were there in the mid-season (1st week of April) and the air-conditioning was not working; the room being south-oriented and during the day, it was 27 degrees in there! So warm that we had to keep the windows open until late; and since the hotel is exaclty in front of where the ferries unload and load the cars and trucks, including in the niddle of the night, the noise was really a problem. only earlu morning was it possible to close the windows and sleep withut noise from outside. I expect it to be fine when the hotel switches on the AC, but too early for us. All the rest was wonderful, with extremely nice and kind staff.

This is a unique venue set on a private peninsula with 4 private beaches, swimming pool, 2 cocktail Bars, a nightclub at the end of the peninsula for the jet set. The GM - Robert James was amazing. He is professionalism personified. Our degustation dinner 38 euro pp was excellent. 5 courses spread over 3 hours on the outside terrace under the stars. The Terrace was phenomenal. Service is first-class. A very special destination. One of a kind.
