We stayed in a standard double room up one flight of stairs. We received a WhatsApp message before arrival giving us the necessary information to access our room. We found the accommodations comfortable, nothing fancy but more than adequate. The space was very clean, the bed comfortable and the room was quiet. We had a chair, luggage rack, wardrobe, and a hot pot with tea and coffee in the room. The bath was comfortable with plenty of hot water in the shower.
Our server for breakfast was very attentive. We wished we could speak more Italian to communicate with her. We took our breakfast in a lovely little dining room. The food was very good and typical of a European breakfast.
The location is just a couple of blocks from the cathedral and other resources. It was also a short walk to the bus stop.
Our host Giuseppe, though we never met him, was very patient and helpful with parking arrangements for our vehicle. This was a major concern for us because the hotel information made it perfectly clear that parking was not available at the B&B. Giuseppe had suggested we drop off our luggage at the B&B then drive the car to the garage. I'm not sure it's worth the effort unless you're packing enormous bags but even then, this place is hard to find by car. We weren't successful! We were given misinformation from Goggle Maps that threaded us through narrow streets (not created for present day automobiles) to a dead end with no easy way out. We did finally make it to the parking garage and easily made the short walk to the room.
The gentleman at the garage was equally helpful and the car felt safe there.
Locanda Re Ruggero is set opposite the cathedral in the historic centre of Monreale, a picturesque town on the slopes of Mount Caputo. The air-conditioned rooms all feature free Wi-Fi.

It was the best location, the balcony (we had two) were big and had a great view at the Cathedral.
It was easy to find the parking after instructions and also to take the local bus to Palermo.
Communications were smooth. Monreale is beautiful.

Great location and facilities to self cater as a change from restaurant food. Very convenient for the Magna Via Francigena.
Providing free parking and free Wi-Fi access, B&B Elvira Al Duomo is 600 metres from Monreale Cathedral. Its classic-style rooms have air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and private bathroom.

Elvira and Santino made our stay more than welcome. Breakfast was abundant, good and fresh. Our room was big and had all the necessities needed. Parking was safe and secure in the locked up drive. Location is very near to the Duomo but the road is a bit steep. When we told Santino we were going to Palermo with our car he insisted we take the 35min bus ride and he drove us to the bus stop.....what an amazing host. Thank you Elvira and Santino.

This was a wonderful place to begin our tour of Sicily: the owners are extremely welcoming and helpful. They offered to drive us up to Monreale each day, and advised us on where to eat and where to go; they also provided us with a delicious breakfast each morning, including freshly squeezed orange juice, and gluten-free options for me, which I had asked for on booking.

Monreale is a city built on the side of the mountain, so be prepared to walk up hills and stairs! The big attraction there is the Duomo in the main square which is just beautiful in the inside as the artwork is done in gold! You will have to pay an entrance fee, but it is worth it. The streets can be a bit of challenge to navigate as there are street vendors, cars, vespas, bicycles and pedestrians all trying maneuver through the narrow streets. Monreale gives you a beautiful view of Palermo and the ocean.

We spent only an afternoon here, but so glad that we included it on our trip. The cathedral was the most beautiful we had seen on our trip to Italy - we also visited ones in Palermo, Cefalu, and Catania. There were several interesting restaurants on side streets near the town center and we found a lovely ceramic/mosaic shop just off the central square. Views were amazing and it was an easy car ride to the airport for our departure the next day.

Although you can get in the cathedral free to see the mosaics, I would suggest you get the inclusive tickets (€12) to see the Cloister, the Cathedral, the Sanctuary and get up to the roof for a fantastic view of the Cloister and the town.

For us the cathedral was the centrepiece, why we were there, and the 12th century mosaics were stunning. We also enjoyed seeing the cathedral packed with young, local families, after hundreds of years still a centre for the local community

The Duomo both inside and outside is spectacular.
The Duomo both inside and outside is spectacular. The small town itself is very picturesque as well, with some great little restaurants (e.g. Pepers and pizzeria Antica de Guillermo opposite the main entrance to the Duomo) and beautiful views of Palermo in the distance. It's a good place to stay as you avoid the pain of driving in the busy centre of Palermo. You can leave the car in Monreale and take a 20-minute bus ride into the centre for €1,40 one way. You get the bus tickets from any tobacconist.

The cathedral is breath-taking and worth a trip unto itself, but Monreale is also an ideal staging point for trips into nearby Palermo. We had great food and sight-seeing within Monreale itself and took advantage of a good bus system to spend a day in Palermo. It was easy to do and we enjoyed everything we did here.
The B&B had secure parking, a real bonus in Monreale. The room was a good size for three people with ample storage. The continental breakfast was good and served (weather permitting) in the garden. The B&B was a ten minute walk up a steep hill and steps to the centre of the town where there were several restaurants, although many were closed on a Monday. Pepers on the way up was a decent choice. The owner was most helpful, taking us to the bust stop to catch the bus to Palermo and recommending places to visit.
It is our second time staying at this place and again we cannot fault it. Emanuela looks after us exceptionally and she serves us with a fantastic breakfast spread with a good selection of home baked cakes as well as hams and delis. The B & B and rooms are very clean and comfortable. Rocca Di Monreale is an oasis in the middle of Palermo, after a day out in the hustle and bustle of the city, it is the best place to relax and recharge in a quite place with magnificent views.
Really great place to stay, it is very near the city centre of Monreale, place is really clean, modern and pretty.
Owners were very friendly, Nice and ready to help and answear your questions.
Breakfast was okay, typical Italian breakfast- a lot of sweet pastries, some bread, butter, yogurt, juice and really good coffee. I definitely would stay again, thank you 🥰
We were a little lost and suddenly I see a man waving at me from the street. That’s how we met Paolo. The room, hospitality, vista was terrific. The location was directly across from the Monreale cathedral. Breakfast!! Imagine being on a terrific terrace overlooking the countryside with delectable treats and fruit. What a gem of a place, with a terrific host.
Paola, the host, is just amazing, very welcoming and available all the time for any sort of need. Location is great, a stone throw from the UNESCO heritage site of the Monreale Cathedral. Plenty of choice for tasty food. 15 to 30 minutes driving from many must-go locations, as for the likes of Palermo and its nearby beautiful beaches.
The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and happy! They provided everything we needed, even a space to work(!), and all with a big smile! The atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy. the pool and the view from the hotel are incredible! If i go again to Sicily- i wouldn’t stay anywhere else!
Pool with the beautiful view was the best. Very tasty breakfast (everyday a little bit different). Nice staff that recommends you what to do and what to see in Monreale, Palermo etc. and gives you very useful tips (where to park the car, where to eat, ...). We have really enjoyed the stay in Casa Rossa.
Great appartement in the city center of Monreale. Really worth a stop! The host was super nice and handled pur spontaneus visit really well! Regarding the price, the location and everything else - this place is pretty much perfect. (p.s. free parking was no problem with the guidance of our host)
The property was on the outskirts of Monreale and very quiet. Parking was available on site and the owners were very gracious hosts. Our room was very comfortable with a balcony that looked out across the valley and the ocean with Palermo in the distance.
The location in the heart on Monreale in an old palazzo with great character and wonderful views was excellent and Paolo was a most courteous and helpful host. The breakfast sitting on a terrace with a spectacular vista will linger long in the memory.
Wonderful location, high above the city of Palermo. Great views. Parking well off the street. A large room with a sitting area. I didn't eat there but the hotel's restaurant is clearly very popular on a Saturday night.
The owners-Manuela and her sisters—were welcoming and very helpful with any of our questions. Rooms are large.
The location is very good for going into Palermo or to Monreale.
