I appreciated the walkability to the train station, and center of Vercelli. I appreciated that the property offered breakfast, and the bathroom was very clean and the hot water was great with wonderful water pressure (always a selling point for me!). The hotel staff allowed us to check in after 3pm, and leave our backpacks behind the front desk while we toured the town the following day and pick up at 3pm before heading back to the train - the accommodation for our backpacks was very helpful.

The place was practically empty when we visited at the end of August. Strange but OK in the end. The room was very comfortable and our meal in the restaurant was fine. Not a bad place to break our journey though just a little bit off the motorway.

We were walking along the La Via Francigena and our stage ended in Palestro. Which was a mistake. Palestro is a very small town with limited opportunities to eat out. To be fair, we were there in the middle of the summer vacation and things were closed that are normally open.
