We went to Sicily for 8 days over Christmas and this was by far the highlight. Floresta is a small village located at 1300m in the Nebrodi mountains, and our room had a very nice view of it. The owner also owns a small shop and restaurant downstairs and we had dinner there too. The food was locally produced, tasted amazing and felt so homemade. The owner was also such a friendly gentleman. The room itself was nice too, very clean and featured a large bathroom.

We had the best time staying with Mela, Sebastiano, Francesco et al. We went on fantastic tours of the local towns with Caro (a local archaeologist and history teacher) and Francesco, where we wandered through abandoned villages, nature reserves (where we saw herons, ducks, horses, cockerels and wild saffron), lovely churches and even a local olive oil producer where we got to see the whole process from harvest to bottle! We also did a pasta making class with the wonderful Mela who taught us, whilst all of us were cracking up laughing, how to make gnocchi and maccheroni, which they then cooked for us and served for lunch and dinner; bella pasta! Alimunera is a converted 1920’s post office, it’s a lovely building that is very nicely decorated. Our room was spacious and calming with a massive veranda complete with table, chairs and sun beds. There’s a seasonal heated swimming pool to be enjoyed too. When it came to leaving, Mela made us friendship bracelets (even one for our four year old niece back home!) and also bought us leaving presents, we couldn’t believe it and it felt like leaving our closest family. A beautiful place, a beautiful area and beautiful people!

Immersed in nature, the location was simply stunning. There were plenty of trekking opportunities nearby and the property made great use of natural elements to decorate itself in a functional manner. This is a perfect place if your trip is about enjoying and immersing yourself in nature. Food was plenty, varied, and delicious. This is a good thing given how isolated the property is (nearest village of Floresta is 20-30 mins away and the road is quite broken), meaning it's unlikely you want to head out during the night for food elsewhere.

The best shower and most comfortable bed in six weeks travel in Sicily. This first floor apartment is comfortable, clean and convenient. Plenty of room for a family or group of adventurers with a very spacious living room, well appointed kitchen and super affordable. The host’s father met us and made us very welcome with a selection of fruit that he had grown himself. There is a butcher (who speaks some English)and green grocer downstairs, fuel station next door and two cafes across the road. We were planning to use this as a convenient base for further exploration of the region, but with the first wet weather we had experienced, it was nice to turn on the pellet heater and have a day on the sofa watching movies. I’d recommend this property for anyone interested in cycling or a great base for visiting the Lipari. The motorway is only 15 minutes drive, so tremendously convenient for accessing the costal towns or mountains. A great stay

If you want a relaxing place to escape, nestled in nature then this is the place to go. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable with all basic amenities available. Parking on the property and a little village just 7 minutes away by car. You have to have a car to go there and be comfortable. Marco is a great host and gave us all the tips we needed to have a splendid break. Definitely recommend if you need a break from the crazy world :)
