This hotel was built in the 1800s and was obviously once very grand. The large clean rooms have high ceilings, mine had a balcony, a desk and fridge, good lighting, wifi, heat and AC, as well as enough plugs for charging devices. There was a profuse amount of towels and toiletries and this generosity extended to the airy and welcoming breakfast room which is officially in action for a couple of hours every morning but is left accessible so that you can eat in there and not in your room.
All communication and transactions were seamlessly done online. I met the gracious hostess Stefania at breakfast.
The location is excellent as the train station is just around the corner and there is a very good cafe/ bar/ bakery/ bistro diagonally across from the hotel. Thank you

This is a delightful little b&b that is somehow both in the middle of the village and yet was so quiet and felt secluded. I travelled solo this time but this was a great stay for a couple.

The views! The facilities, the garden and ambience, the staff, the terrace, the pool. This place is just so so good. Honestly the pictures don’t do it justice.
Villa San Giovanni is a place of transit. It is very small, not very pretty and when we were there, the "lungo mare" was still under construction. Villa San Giovanni is perfect as a base to go to another place, as the trains are well connected and easy but don't expect something from the city itself.

The Owner was amazing. She was so welcoming and really made it feel like home. While my wife and I don't speak any Italian and she speaks just a small amount of English we were able to communicate without much trouble at all.
The location was perfect for my wife and I as we were attending a wedding that was just 5 minutes away and it was just a 10 minute drive to the beaches in Scilla and 15 minutes to Reggio Calabria while being situated in an area that was quiet and peaceful with an amazing view of the Messina Strait and Sicily.
This hotel is now freshly renovated (2023) so the rooms are fresh and inviting. Views are spectacular. Facilities excellent. Large terrace for drinks and meals, and beautiful views. You can easily visit Reggio Calabria from here (it's only a short drive away) and enjoy the atmosphere and relaxation after sightseeing. Beautiful sunsets, views of Stromboli and a lovely coastline to visit as well. If you are going to Sicily it's a 10 minute drive to the ferry.
we stayed one night at this fantastic little hotel before going over t sicily. Would have liked to stay a few days here and explore the area and the beaches. Very helpful hostess with family. quiet location a bit from the beach. Beautiful garden and pool area. we were served the best meal we ate on the whole trip in the form of small local dishes. And the breakfast was very good!
The location is unusual, located as it is next to an electrical pylon. However, that should not deter visitors, as once in the property the pylon is not visible, and you have a great view across the Strait of Messina to Sicily. It is well-placed for visiting Scilla and Villa San Giovanni. The host is very affable and helpful, and the breakfast is good continental.
The father and son team that run the B&B are super friendly and helpful. They even helped me to register online for the ferry to Messina.
The room we had was very clean and functional. Our room rate included breakfast for which we were given a voucher for a coffeeshop nearby.
The B&B represents outstanding value for money. My compliments to the owners.
Great spot for an overnight stopover before catching the train from V. San Giovanni. Location is only about 5 mins walk from the station, a well appointed kitchen in the hotel itself with enough to make a simple breakfast before heading off. Our host was incredibly friendly and helpful too!
Great place for an overnight stay near the ferry and station. Very clean. Owner was most helpful and the hotel was set up to think of everything we might need. Good clean kitchen/dining room for self service breakfast which was well supplied. Thank you.
Hotel located less than 5 minute drive to ferry terminal for ferry to Sicily.

Francesca, she is so helpful and can not do enough for you.
Mum came to visit me as I live in Italy, and I got invited to Breakfast even though I wasn't a customer of the hotel.
Absolutely incredible.
Lovely hotel in a port city. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was delicious. The location is convenient to the ferry port. Overall a great experience.
Clean, everything as described and conform pictures. Great location, walking distance both to the train station and the ferry. Simple breakfast but good amount for a hungry hiker like me.
Quaint, lovely small hotel. Close to rail station. Easy access, with nice little balcony. Nice little breakfast, and other kitchen facilities. Lamps and PowerPoints near the bed.
The staff were absolutely lovely. The room was a good size, and very comfortable. And the meal we had in the evening was also very good. The hotel was also very clean.
