Located in Goto, 1.2 km from Ohama Beach, ako house provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and barbecue facilities.

House was amazing! For 50 euros a night, we got a spacey, clean house all to ourselves, with every facility you could need or want; you could practically live here. A lovely onsen-but-not-really-onsen, spacey shower rooms and clean toilet rooms with those control panel toilets. A terrace and a garden, a kitchen with everything you'd need. Do your groceries before you come to the hostel as there are no konbinis or grocery stores within walking distance. If you are looking for restaurants you'll have to travel north to Goto as well. The location is beautiful, right next to a quaint port inside of the village. You'll basically be the only tourists in the area as this is the only stay in this part of the island. It's only a few minutes from the beaches to the west and a few minutes from mount Onidake which were the highlights of my trip so far. It's located a little far from Goto, but if you have a car or even bycicle it's no problem at all. You can get back and forth by bike within 45 minutes, and the bikes were rented to us by the owners who even gave us a discount since we were bimbo college students. They also picked us up from the ferry port when we missed our boat and arrived after buses stopped going. They also provided us with tons of information about the surroundings and things to do. I can and will come back to the island and Ako house.

    I think the most outstanding quality of this hotel was the...

    I think the most outstanding quality of this hotel was the service of the staff. They arranged for us to have a driver for an entire day to discover the island and its history. The driver was a local man who was very familiar with the interesting history of the island and answered all of our many questions. This is not to detract from an absolutely spectacular room with a window wall view of the ocean and the small islands in the distance. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and these meals were excellent.

    A great place to explore Japanese island life!

    A great place to explore Japanese island life! Not only is the nature beautiful, but the people are very kind and helpful. To get the most out of a trip to Goto, I recommend traveling with only a few specific places to visit in mind and filling in the gaps with some natural exploration. The places I wanted to see were great, but it was the little surprising spots and locations along the way that became the most memorable.

    A gateway to pre-Meiji Christianity history in Japan, a little-known chapter to foreign tourists. Heavy language barriers do exist, and a knowledge of Japanese or a Japan-compatible driver’s license is highly recommended and almost essential to getting anywhere here.

    I arrived on Saturday at lunch time, I ate awesome Gotō...

    I arrived on Saturday at lunch time, I ate awesome Gotō gyūdon at the harbour and that I walked up to my hostel in 1 hour or more. I hade dinner at the airport restaurant which is really delicious. The following day I went by bus to Tamanoura and I walked 4 hours straight from Konoura to Osezaki Lighthouse and back to the New Pandora Restaurant which was really good! The landscapes in the center of the island and in the bays is amazing!
