Really lovely design, and tastefully decorated with handmade furniture, woodworking, pottery from craftsmen in Japan. The overall ambience was very calming, perfect for a holiday. I would love to return to stay in the future.
The staff Akiko was extremely friendly and went out of her way to ensure I had a good stay - her recommendation on transportation routes and local restaurants was great. We often used google translate to communicate despite the language barrier. She was also very meticulous with her guests and has a great work attitude. Arigato Gozaimasu Akiko-san!
The cafe at the inn serves up delicious food served in handmade pottery which was something that I particularly enjoyed!

It's a beautiful spot. The cabins (the villas) are nice log cabins as long as you are ready to sleep Japanese style (futon on the floor) after you climbed a steep slippery ladder to the sleeping area. It's not a resort! It's what we will call a caravan park with cabins. Their website emphasises the meals & the good local produce used so it was a disappointment to arrive & find there is non available when we arrived (i guess it's available only in their busy period), check ahead. It's 15-20min Mt road drive to the nearest place you can eat. Breakfast was available at a modest cost & it was a humble japanese style.
I will definitely go back there

We had a short but sweet stay at Furumaya House, the Japanese home cooking by Sayaka-san is absolutely delicious, the hamburger steak is to die for. The rice is home grown and the other ingredients are locally sourced. We also really enjoyed the home made umeju, must try if you visit!
If you are looking for a homey/cozy place to stay with great home cooking look no where else.
Would definitely come and stay again to experience the area in depth next time!

I have lived in Japan for a year previously, and this is my 6th visit back to Japan. This was the BEST accommodation experience I have ever had in Japan. I was looking for a quiet, secluded authentic experience, and I found it here. The hosts are the very epitome of hospitality. The home is 170 years old, and the local temple dates back 1,200 years. It has tatami throughout the house, and very traditional. Just mind the low doorways. The beautiful garden adds to the overall aesthetic and was created and designed by Jiro-san over 5 years. The breakfast was so delicious. The bath and toilet are amazing and very modern, which is a comfort in such a traditional home. It may be beneficial if you can speak some Japanese. This accommodation is 10 out of 10. Exceptional in every aspect. Special thanks to my hosts Hana and Jiro, who made my stay complete.
