Pleasantly surprised. I was worried this place might be a bit sketchy based on the pictures, but it's actually quite clean. My room was conveniently located right in front of the washers and dryers--which are a luxury in Japan--so I took advantage of that. The amenities are great, the staff friendly, polite, and extremely accommodating. The food is outstanding - generous portions, extraordinary variety and really fresh as a lot of it is grown in the hotel garden. The location is a little out of Hiraizumi but it doesn’t matter - there’s a shuttle, and the location is serene and beautiful. Also the onsen is amazing!

We came to the Sannouzan Onsen Zuisenkyo to experience a traditional japanese inn with an onsen. The staff was so friendly and even though we couldn't speak japanese they made us feel comfortable and welcome! The onsen was extremely nice, with 3 different baths outside and 3 inside. Rooms were super nice with comfortable beds and very clean. You get free water, tea and little sweets everyday, which is very nice. Overall it's perfect to relax and enjoy nature, with interesting shrines and temples just 30min away. The highlight was definitely the welcoming staff and the great service!
