We selected Breeze bay based on the reviews: and it did not disappoint. Although the building is not as modern or fancy as some others closer to the water, it was comfortable and provided all we could want. The facilities at the hotel are varied, and target guest relaxation: we especially enjoyed the private pool. The food in the restaurant was extremely tasty and well presented.
The staff are the best feature of this hotel. From the greeting at the front door to the service in the restaurant, the staff are friendly and efficient. For overseas guests, this personal touch makes everything more comfortable. This might seem like a small thing, but the staff were putting up a Christmas tree as we arrived, and the simple pleasure they showed, made me feel very much at home. As a final comment We were very grateful to have a taxi deliver us to and from the JR train station.
Featuring a spa bath, Luxury ocean front house Bay-villa is located in Matsushima.

Amazing location - we walked short distances to everything. The property is huge and they have thought of everything - even gym and and warming blankets!

A location at the sea with beautiful view. The hospitality is great, staff very friendly. A nice feature is that you get to choose your own yukata. One person in particular, had lived 16 years in Spain, helped is with his English skills and gave us great service. The room was pleasant, the futons comfortable. We had a private bath on the inner waranda. Dinner was exceptional, a real wow factor. Same for breakfast, amazing.

The guesthouse is in a great location, close to the pier and the temple.
The room and facilities were exceptionally clean.
And most importantly the host is so friendly and helpful! He speaks perfect English and was eager to talk about Japanese culture and listen about ours :)
I couldn’t recommend more!

Room is big enough and hotel close at train station. The staff (front door man) is very friendly and helpful.
Scenic little town with lots to view. We walked the town and explored all the tourist sights. Took a short boat ride around the bay for 1000¥ ,if you want to sit upstairs on boat you’ll need to pay another 600¥. Main Shrine currently under renovation

It's amazing.
It's amazing. There's such an incredible amount to do and see. We explored for 5 hours two days in a row in the freezing cold and would do it again in a heartbeat it was so nice. So many restaurants, hotels, gift shops, places of outstanding beauty, museums... amazing.

It is really a beautiful view, with all those small islands covered with pine trees! The region is very prepared for the tourists, including bridge to one of the islands for people that like to walk around the trees!
The Zuiganji temple is one of the most beautiful I've seen!

Very beautiful coastal town!
Very beautiful coastal town!
Having two different train stations on each side of the town, makes the getting to/from very flexible and easy.
Definitely a must see when visiting Sendai or the Tohoku/Myagi Area.

Matsushima is a tiny place and does not have a lot to offer...
Matsushima is a tiny place and does not have a lot to offer - also like any other traditional Japanese town it closes down at 6 PM - literally. Most restaurants and shops are closed, the streets atr dark. Not much to do. It is a great place for a short stopover.
A small ryokan in Matsushima. Quiet neighbourhood, and konbini is on the other side of the river. There is also a supermarket and Daiso about 10 minute walk away. The Japanese style room is comfy and intimate. Simplistic. There is an onsen facility on site too. Proprietress speaks some English. Knowing some Japanese to show appreciation is helpful and they appreciate it a lot. Wifi is available here. The owner drove me to the train station which is some walk away.
The hosts were very open and welcoming. The futon was comfortable and the Japanese-style room was spacious. We loved the onsen.
As we were looking for a place without included meals in the Matsushima area, this was the perfect choice for us.
The interior is old but charming and needs some restoration as you can clearly see the effect of previous earthquakes. We would love to see it in a recovered, thriving state in the future and would like to come back.
An amazing stay in Taikanso ! It is extremely clean and comfortable. what I love most is the Matsushima Bay view from the hotel, breakfast spread and the service provided. All staff were attentive to our needs from the moment we stepped into the hotel - from the reception to the beautiful piano melody for the guests, to the restaurant operators. Never felt so welcomed :) there is also a free shuttle to/fro train station . thank you for the amazing stay!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean, large room with private bathroom and toilet. Great view onto the bay. Accessible rooftop with 360° view. Multiple shared baths (onsen) including outdoor bath. The first morning there was a buffet style breakfast as advertised, the second morning a rich traditional Japanese style breakfast. The free shuttle service from / to the train station is convenient if you have a lot of luggage.
The location was the best in Matsushima. It was just off the main bay road, but you heard no traffic. Nothing closer could be so quiet. The proprietor Agsh was considerate and attended to all my needs effortlessly. He made it very easy for this non-Japanese speaker. I heard him speaking a few other languages with guests beyond English.
The guesthouse is located right in the middle of all the main attractions of Matsushima and an easy 10 minute walk from the station. Our host, Eiju, was very friendly, spoke excellent English and had great tips for exploring the local area. Everything was spotlessly clean and this guesthouse is very good value for money.
The staff Amazing Kaiseki-ryori dinner and buffet breakfast. Rooftop access gives a good view of the town, but limited view of the bay. The 2 communal onsens are good with the 2 baths rotating between male and female access for the morning and evening.
The beautiful hotel had an excellent room with a view. We do not like buffets, but we made exception. Each main meal was made to order. Best high quality sushi and steak. We will definitely recommend to our friends.
Great onsen (women and men separate) with a view on the Matsushima bay from the 5th floor, delicious meals prepared in front of you, refreshments during the day included. Overall very nice chilled experience!
The hotel was quite nice, little bit old fashioned, but clean. The room was large enough, in traditional Japanese style (tatami).
The spa ("onsen") was really good, we enjoy it very much!
The staff was very accommodating and friendly. They waited for us for dinner because we got lost finding the hotel. The food was very good and the onsen was relaxing. and uncrowded.
