Very warm welcome from the owners, a very nice couple who will do their best to communicate with you with their electronic translator. The place is big and comfortable. Supposedly it has a view on mount Fuji but it was cloudy so we couldn't see it. You have access to the kitchen with many equipments.

The room is huge comparing to my stay at Tokyo and Osaka! Would highly recommend staying here if you are driving or rent a car, it’s a bit far from the centre but that’s the best part coz not many ppl around you. you can see Mt Fuji from the room window on a side view, or just get down to the back of the resort and you can see it all!

We did not have time to explore the town at all, but overall seemed like a beautiful place by the lake. Would highly recommend because I think this place is less mobbed by tourists that Fujikawaguchiko.

It was a nice place to stop for a few days before heading back to Tokyo. Great places to eat and beautiful walks around the lake. There is a bathhouse not to far from the hotel but they do not allow tattoos- no exceptions.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views.

This is a beautiful area full of nature and amazing views. I went in October so out of the main season and it was nice and quiet with not many visitors around. Renting a Swan boat and feeding the ducks was great fun! I couldn't find a single vegetarian restaurant in town so something to be aware of if you don't eat meat or fish. Just be aware of the army base from which you can hear artillery fire every day. It's loud and a little disconcerting! I think Yamanakako is less touristy than Kawaguchiko which for me is a good thing.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities.

It's a great area if you like outdoorsy activities. There's several hiking trails around the Lake, which are well marked and reward you with an awesome view of Fujisan when you get to the destination. The trails up to Mt Takazasu and Mt Myojin are good and take in the Panorama-Dei spot which is popolar for viewing Fujisan. All-day parking is available at Yamanakako Community Plaza Kirara, and the trailheads are 20-30min walk away from there. There is also a very nice 15km cycling path around the Lake, which is a very long but pleasant walk. If you're not outdoorsy, then the options are more limited to the nice restaurants, and there are high end and nice lower-priced options (Denny's, Cafe Gusto). There are also various onsen and sento in the town.

Pros - Mt Fuji is a glory to see so close up and the clouds and the skyline around the mountain were in a constant dance of change - breathtaking. The reflections of the sunset clouds on the lake were were dazzling. The freshness of the pristine air. The lack of high humidity. The sense of well-being offered by the area. The vehicles stopped at zebra crossings which isn't always the case in certain cities. Cons - At times we have to walk on the road within half a metre of passing vehicles. That could have possible unwanted outcomes.

    Yamanashi in general was gorgeous.

Yamanashi in general was gorgeous. We stayed at Yamanakako and it was a great place to stay at to get away from the stressful work environment in the city. We didn't get to eat at any local restaurants since we were too busy exploring the surrounding areas but you won't be left wanting for food options since everywhere you go, there's a restaurant nearby and they all looked so good. I think it would be more convenient if you travel around by car since the bus fare can get a little expensive if you're traveling far.

the rooms were very clean and the view absolutely gorgeous. waking up to mt Fuji in your view is amazing. the rooms are huge so families with kids will appreciate this. the basement ping pong and billiard was an added plus to pass some time. location wise it was quite good. we walked out to have dinner at the Hottou shop nearby. onsen was small but clean and I liked the idea of each room/family being able to choose a time and go in privately as a family.

The owner was very friendly and nice to chat to. And the coffee that he roasted is very delicious. Anyone who like a good ol' cuppa of coffee in the morning do give it a try! The place is very near Mt Fuji as well and depending on rooms you might be greeted by Mt fuji the first thing in the morning. Very nice place if you just want to be surrounded by nature and quietness.

I really enjoyed staying in this place. The first thing that I appreciate is the hospitality and the level of service we received. You feel like home! We rented free bicycles from the hotel and enjoyed cycling around the lake. You can play billiard and ping pong as well. The hotel has a nice garden with three tables. You can enjoy barbecue and meet other people who stay there.

I think that if the weather had been good, the views of Mt Fuji would have been spectacular. Without Mt Fuji, though, the facilities did leave much to be desired. The staff at the front desk were tremendously helpful. The onsen were clean and probably would have had fantastic views if the fog hadn't cut visibility to roughly 100 feet.

A warm and welcoming place wonderfully located at the base of Mount Fuji. Lake Yamanakako is right at your doorstep. It has an indoor onsen which is shared but you can peacefully enjoy because you get your own time slot. The staff are a very friendly couple who are super helpful! Breakfast is optional but definitely recommended!

Great location if you want to hike Mount Fuji! Best breakfast, but you just had to pay extra since breakfast wasn't included in the room rate. Worth it though. Very friendly staff, 50% knew English so that was helpful. Also a beautiful lake front view, you walk out front and you're there.

Everything! This was a delightful cottage in a great location. It was a huge advantage that we had a hire car but I don’t know how often the local bus service would come to this area. To be able to drive 3 minutes around the lake to see sunset and sunrise on Mt Fuji was unbelievable.
