Very friendly and welcoming small hotel. Rooms are simple, clean and spacious, including the bathroom. There is a large covered balcony with superb views. We stayed 3 nights and ate in the hotel as the food is delicious and freshly made. Breakfast offers a choice of western or local food and we preferred the latter, it was so tasty. The hotel is situated downhill from the town centre, so walking there is easy from the bus or train station, but you'll need a tuk-tuk for the return if you have luggage. Also it is very quiet. What sets the hotel apart is the friendliness and service from the staff, particularly Chathura who was so attentive and helpful during our stay. Highly recommended, we really enjoyed our stay.

We've been to many 5-star hotels all around the world, and surprisingly received the best hospotality service in this Hotel during our 2 night stay. It's a hidden gem !!! The view is epic from infinity pool. The food is Michelin level perfect. They light up dome fire while you dine outdoors (evenings might be little chill) there are 2 roms with fire place & ready to be fired up upon your request. They even put hot water bags into your bed during evening turn-down service, who expects such thing in the middle of Haputale :) Definetely will come back

Haputale is a small, sleepy Sri Lankan town - as opposed to a tourist town - in a beautiful hill country setting. It is much quieter and much cheaper to stay in than the tourist hot-spots of Nuwara Eliya or Ella, with a range of locally-run guesthouses, rooms and restaurants. The sleepy train station connects it with Colombo, Kandy and Ella, buses pass through and tuk-tuks can take you to nearby waterfalls or the iconic Lipton's Seat from which the stroll down through tea fields is stunning. There are several Olives restaurants in Haputale - Viewpoint was our favourite both for food and a stunning view. If you want a party then avoid Haputale as you'd be bored.

The trip to Lipton's seat takes about 5 hours round trip but is amazing...much better experience than the tour book suggested. An absolute delight was the opportunity to have tea and excellent snacks while in c the clouds at the peak...for an amazingly low price.
Views from our balcony were spectacular and the food - both dinner and breakfast - was top notch

Haputale is no substitute for Ella it's an extra stop.
Haputale is no substitute for Ella it's an extra stop. Haputale has fabulous views right in town and from your lodge, but there is a draught of travellers hang out cafés, while in Ella, you got to hike for the views, the town is packed with cafés and restaurants that makes you want to stay longer. Lodges in Haputale doesn't seem to put people together for shared transport to Horton plains anymore. Almost nobody is going there. I got a very good deal on transport there, but bailed in the gate and went back, due to extortionate entrance fees that added up to $49 for 1 person! - for a 3h hike!!!! - Lipton seat is well worth it though. Go early in the day before the clouds are covering it. The ride up takes you through beautiful tea plantations as well.

It's a lovely and unique area for trekking and hiking. The weather is wonderful, it's a place where the weather changes 6 times a day. Beautiful.
Bambarakanda Falls, Diyaluma Falls, Upper Diyaluma, Haputale Mountain, Lipton's Seat, and Horton Plains are nearby places. Adhisham's Bungalow is another unique experience to see the wildlife in night.

Easy access to famous Adisham bungalow and numerous walking trails. Good base for excursions to Horton Plains, Lipton's Seat, and impressive waterfalls. Haputale station is on scenic railway line through Hill Country. Best to stay in a guesthouse in the surrounding countryside rather than in town centre.
We loved the location just outside of Haputale. We had a large bedroom with two large comfortable beds which was perfect for my husband and I and our two children. Breakfast was good and we did an excellent and fun cookery class, followed by a delicious eating the things we cooked.
Can walk straight from the door. We did a couple of beautiful stages of the Pekoe trail. It’s a good base for visiting the area. Whilst there as well as visitors to tea factory and Nuwara Eliya amd Horton’s plains.
This is the best place I stayed during my 2 months in Sri Lanka. The location and the view are stunning, in the middle of the nature, the family who runs the guesthouse is extremely friendly and helpful, they do everything they can to make you feel like home since the first moment you arrive.
The food is without a doubt the best I ever had in this country, the rice and curry is just delicious and always freshly cooked.
The rooms are very clean and have amazing view, everything was perfect
I stayed here for the 2nd time in a row as I extended my trip and the place was so good. I met Mr. Amarasinghe, the owner of the place as well who is really knowledgeable about the area, he and his family have done a great job to build up the place since the 1970s. Breakfast was included in my booking and it was really good. And they even brought down dinner for me when I asked. The amount I paid was very reasonable. I would definitely stay here again in my next Haputhale visit.
Our stay here couldn’t have been better. The guesthouse is the perfect location in Haputale with a stunning view, and our room was comfortable and big. The best part of our stay was being looked after by the lovely family who were so friendly and generous. We had delicious meals and thanks to his advice and organising we had great trips to Lipton’s seat and Horton Plains. Thanks so much!
The apartment is close to the train station and bus stop. View is absolutely incredible. Bed was comfortable and there were extra blankets as it got cold at night.
You can take a direct bus to Diyaluma waterfall for very cheap (five minute walk from the hotel). There's also a nice tea factory and cafe you can walk to through the tea plantations in around 30m.
Very quiet, clean, fantastic owners with good english, helpful. They pick from the train station. Very good homemade food. The owner has a tuktuk, and for very reasonable prices offers siteseeing, visiting tea factory, tea plantations and neighbourhood. If someone is looking for quiet, non touristic area, very romantic and green, best place to go.
Lovely and helpful host, who speaks good English. Helped me organize a trip to Horton Planes, and suggested a bunch of other places to visit. Great breakfast and dinner, best I had in Haputale - be sure to stay for dinner at least once. Gorgeous views from the terrace. Also, the rooms are quiet despite being very close to the town.
Very nice guesthouse to stay in Haputale. The Mist Holiday Bungalow is located 15 km from Lipton's Seat. Tea Plantation.Cozy rooms with bathrooms and common area. View for the balcony is amazing! The staff is very friendly and if you need to solve any issue, it is solved quickly. Very friendly boss, always ready to help.
We had a wonderful experience at the Leisure mount view holiday Inn in Haputale. Every staff member I encountered, from the bellman to the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help!
Food was excellent,
Thank you!
Will recommend to my colleagues! And best place to stay. 🇱🇰
The view from the balcony would be enough to bring me back to this hotel, but add in the spacious bedroom and bathroom and you have an idyllic mix.
Great that they offered a large menu for evening meal, which was delicious and both Sri Lanka and English breakfast.
Bonus was was seeing fireflies
This is a small hotel with 6 rooms. But the rooms are very big than 5 star hotels. It's a family business. Very good friendly staff and home made food. Price is very reasonable. The rooms charges are very reasonable. I recommend for enyone going to haputhale stay here.
