The Staff of Ellankanda Villa made our stay so very pleasent. The food was excellent(!) and we always felt very cared about. Rooms are very clean and you can tell that there is a sense of detail, which give the place its charme. It is a quite place, but you can nicely explore the area by yourself (or in our case we were even gives a small tour by the Staff - thank you again!). Absolut recommendation if you want to spend some quite days in a great place.

What a peaceful villa, where the birds' singing matches the calm in our mind.
Surrounded by nature, it feels like a cozy herbal retreat, with the comforting scent of Ceylon cinnamon.
The colours are earthy, and the views are wide, giving us a sense of freshness.
We were able to relax in the beautiful rooms, take walks in the gardens, and sleep well in the comfy bedroom.
And just beyond, there was a tea plantations, adding to the serenity of our stay.
Plus, We could see breath-taking mountain view and tranquil greenery views surrounded by paddy fields. I've never stayed in such a serene place in Sri Lanka before.
Here, fresh air is always at our fingertips, inviting us to breathe deeply and unwind.
Staff is very nice and food was amazing.

They had very limited options for breakfast. Didn’t refill the tea/coffee sachets when we asked. Said they only provide tea/coffee for one cup. We were asked to pay and order tea if we wanted. It was absurd, even five star hotels refill the tea/coffee in rooms when we ask. It was a cheap move.
At the morning breakfast, the milk rice didn’t have milk and the sambol was made with dedicated or used coconut. It was so dry and tasteless. There was no tea station or the waiters didn’t offer tea when the guests were having breakfast. So we didn’t know we could get tea at breakfast. They didn’t fill the sachets in rooms and didn’t offer tea at breakfast table, most of us had no way of having morning tea.
It’s situated in a remote area so there are no restaurants or shops around. When we wanted to order bites the prices were too expensive. Given the quality of the hotel they could not charge 3650 for club sandwiches. If they had reasonable prices people would have ordered from them conveniently. But we went back to a town looking for a good place to get food because the hotel was trying to rob us in broad daylight.
Sri Lankans are very hospitable people. This is the land of tea. The stingy things they do reflect badly on Sri Lanka because they portray a wrong image. Tourists wouldn’t want to come back to this kind of treatment.

This wasn't our first stay, so we obviouly like this place. The manager Anand couldn't have been kinder. He looked after us like super VIPs. He was everywhere making sure that we were fine. A big thank you to him. We forgot a swim suit and he offered to send it by courier service to our next hotel, which he did. The hotel itself is small and not for everyone. The rooms needs a complete rework - they don't do this place justice. They are in a poor state. But the location is incredible and I hope, this will never change - please never cut ANY of the trees! This is the biggest asset- the jungle and all its noises, the beautiful light filtering through the canopy.

We loved everything: the rooms were large and with beautiful design, everything super clean; very confortable bed. At one point we were the only guests (our group) since it is a small resort.
The pool is amazing, food was perfect. It s best to preorder, so you don t wait. Try Tomato and Orange soup, my favorite, also shrimps, pasta, lamb.. they have a very good Chef.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
The nearby Balapytia beach was so beautiful, we saw a wonderful sunset from the rocks.
It was splendid to relax here after visiting the island. It was one if the 2 best hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka.
