Interesting structure with bungalows spread out in a very large area. It took a 15 min walk to get to the massage room, but the massage was excellent. Very well kept area and garden with a large pool. Breakfast and dinner was OK, but nothing more. Not much interaction with the staff so difficult the make a statement.

Beautiful garden with the extra of a swimming pool, simple but clean and comfortable bungalows. A very relaxing stay to recharge and enjoy the exploration of Isalo. Very kind and helpful staff. The restaurant has very good food including vegetarian options and local wines. Good wifi in the reception area.
Walking distance from the village. Beautiful views of the sunset and the night sky.

What really disappointed me are the local autorities, like the actual mayor. Though responable for the development and well being of the villagers ,they do absolutely nothing to develop the village and commune. The Ranohira commune is actually fortunate to have a large and regular source of finance through the tourist tax on overnights stays in hotels and park fees but nobody seems to know how that money is used to develop the village...it just seems to disappear into a few peoples pockets. Apart from that the mayors office does not show any support and even blocks & sabotages associations that are there to develop and improve the life in the village and region.
A visit of associations like "Soa Zara"; battling deforestation because of which the area is getting eroded and is drying up and "association Le Village", aiming healthcare and education (they have constructed the Ranohira hospital and teach environmental care) should be part of your visit to Ranohira. Both organisations are run by the owners of ITC Lodge. If you want to leave a positive influence of your stay in Madagascar sponsor and plant trees from the Soa Zara tree nursery and plant them on one of their the reforestation sites.
It's associations like these that need your help to develop the commune and region!
