We arrived after Cyclone Lola so it was wet and sea was churned up with a big swell. The sun came out and we enjoyed our evening walk on the beach which is beautiful. The morning we got up at 5.30 am and drove to the foot of Te Pare and walked up to the point for sunrise photos. We did the Hahei explorer boat trip which was a great way to see the coastline which is currently shut to walkers. Later we drove to Hot Water Beach which was great fun leaping the huge waves! The tide and swell was too high to dig spa pools but we felt the hot water with our toes! We had dinner both nights in The Pour House which served amazing food.

Phil and Sue were fantastic hosts.

Phil and Sue were fantastic hosts. They helped us with great advice regarding road closures we encountered on the way. Thanks to Phil, we found an alternate route and missed the closure completely. Once we arrived we felt so welcome and Phil gave us a ride up to the start of the Cathedral Cove walk. I highly recommend staying here.

Jane was amazing! So welcoming, gave us excellent advice for hitting two of the most commonly visited sites in Hahei. We traveled in NZ for 30 days and this stay was one of the highlights of the trip. These hosts are lovely and kind! The lodging was gorgeous and the most comfortable stay we had in NZ. Mostly due to the fact that she has screens up to allow for airflow and no bugs! Amazing! We didn't have screens anywhere else in NZ. Anyway, 10/10 would recommend! Plus, breakfast in the am!

what a great find. fantastic little Bach, really well kitted out with great quality fixtures and fittings, a really comfy bed and a super hot power shower. it was literally a 5 minute walk on the flat to the beach and shops were closer. This had literally everything we needed and was comfortable with lots of little homely touches in the artwork etc. Nice area to eat outside too. We stayed 4 nights and wished we’d had longer.

Phil and Sue are welcoming and helpful hosts - lots of good local knowledge and useful suggestions. This property and Hahei are recommended. Nice beach, kayak trips are super and the beer and pizza at the Pour House recommended. Mercury Vineyard great on a nice sunny day.
